Default In-Car Video: Mustang Crashes at Bonneville at 265 mph!

Danny Thompson (Mickey Thompson's son!) is apparently trying to give Richard Holt a run for his money in crashing at 200+ mph!

They claim he was going 265 mph when he crashed! You can fast forward to 1:46 in the video to watch the crash.

Full video.

Fast forward to the crash.

Crash in slow motion.

Yeah he had some very lazy/problematic shifting going on. It's not like he was rowing the gears on the strip, and he still missed them! Still though, skery crash for sure.

you probably shouldnt herp before you derp...

power shifting with skinny tires on SALT at 150-200 mph is BAD. SALT is finicky stuff and if you notice he got loose a couple times before turning it and making it a kite. btw, somehow i doubt Mickey Thompsons son is a bad driver...

trying to make slow deliberate shifts while not losing speed or breaking the tires loose.

Yeah no doubt, the cage definitely saved his life. That video was pretty scary, not something I'd want to try.

just seems like it wouldn't be that hard to shift an all out purpose vehicle..not saying he needed to powershift or even that it was his fault

Just imagine driving on dirt, that's what the salt flats are like. It's MUCH different than pavement.
