Default WAY Off Topic: Pics of the Grand National, by Popular Request!

So, every time I post a new pic of the Impala that has my GN in the background, y'all hassle me for pictures of it! Well, I got the car cleaned up tonight and shot a few pics. Remember, the paint is nearly 24 years old and original. It's seen better days. That said, enjoy!

My Dad was the original owner of this one. I was 16 when we all went down to the Buick dealership on Father's Day, 1987, and this is the car we came home with!

unfortunately i wasnt even thought of at the time. She drove a schoolbus when she bought it, which was around the same time her boss had bought a porshe or something similar. First day she drove it to work her boss was bragging about his car so she said lets take a ride in mine. After she smoked the tires 50ft without trying too hard he was conviced he bought the wrong car. nice car btw

that would have been a hell of a hand me down car ... even i would have been scared to drive it at 16 ... im still scared of them now, and ive never had an accident or moving violation ... and with a GN, im sure my license would be history in a week or so

Well, it was left to me when my Dad passed away about 5 years ago.

Funny thing is, I got babysit that car for a week during my senior year of high school when I was 17. The ECM was acting up, and my Dad had a long commute to work. So, we switched cars until the dealer got the replacement ECM. Needless to say, I made the most of it!

Thanks for sharing LS1.

I bought my GN w/ t-tops new in 1986 and miss it to this day. They were awesome cars then and they still command alot of respect to this day!

Take care of that bad boy.

yeah, when my old man had an 2002 F150 Harley Davidson Edition, you know, the 4 door lightning, the family went on vacation, and it was summer time home from college ...

needless to say, there was probably 1/8 inch less tire on the rear when they came home ...

or when he let me and my brother take his 2002 35th anniv SS out to a car show about a week before he was gonna sell it ... im still surprised we didnt wreck it ... that car would haul ***, you know, nothing compared to a GN ... but to a 16 year old and a 19 year old, it was fast enough

ahh good times with automobiles ..

how are our kids, well mine maybe, supposed to have this kind of fun with hybrids and electric cars ... damn hippies

Beautiful car! My dad had a black 87 T-Type he bought in the mid 90s with 14k orig. miles on it. Drove it till 2001, then traded it on an Audi S4 for my mom (HUGE mistake!!). He had a whole slew of mods on the car, and he only let me drive it a couple times (I was still in HS at the time) but I just remember how pushing the gas on that car seemed to make time warp lol. Such cool cars!

Thanks, Brandyn! Actually, the rears are in decent shape. It's the paint that's HIT!

Thanks, Man! FMIC will come after the body-off resto in a few years. I'll also get the stock 109 block rebuilt so I can go after some real power.

Thank you all for the stories and kind words. I'll try to get a few daytime pics while it's still clean. It just doesn't stay clean for long.

LOL that's pretty badass. reminds me of the song "the little old lady from pasadena"

"well she's gonna get a ticket now sooner or later cause she can't keep her foot off the accelerator"
