Default ls1 lexus first trip to the track

video >> http://neufamily.org/images/is300fil...arion%20sd.wmv

lots of pics >> http://neufamily.org/images/is300gallery/

car ran great. my goals were 12.99 NA and 12.30 with a 75shot. i met both of those goals the first runs and never even put drag radials on.

first run was NA and the only NA run i made. it likely had a little more in it.

1.95 60'
8.3@85
12.99@106

2nd run i added in a 75shot. no purge, late turn on, street tires still but no spin.

1.87 60'
7.92@91
12.23@113

last run i turned the nitrous on pretty much right off the line and put on the drag radials

1.80 60'
7.79@91
12.06@114

drove 200miles each way to and from the track. got 18.3mpg including the racing, thats with 3.90gears and 25" tall tires. track was really busy and hooking like mad for everyone even though it was cold later in the night.

stock 1/8th mile was 10.14, i am happy considering it only has a 75shot on it. should be pretty fast once i start making some real power.

Nice! Ballpark figure on the swap cost? Hell, just how much did the shell cost? I'd love an IS300 with something other than a 2JZ in it...

car was $4850 with high miles
sold the engine and tranny for ($600)
donor car was $2600
sold the shell and some other parts from that ($500)
drive shaft was overpriced at $300
exhaust was about $350 in just material
gto pan

thats $7300 for the big stuff. then add in fluids, air filter, hoses...

i would say less than $8k but i have a lot of time in it. cleaning up the wiring took me much longer than i thought it would.

buying a donor car or at least a complete pull out is the way to go. i used a pile of parts from that.

not sure but it will.

i dont like the 3.90 gears and 25" tires. i am looking at rear end options and i think a ford 8.8 irs pumpkin is the way to go. get some 3.08's or so in there. then start adding power

i droped 80lbs from stock and i think most of it was from the front. car is fun as hell to whip around corners.

just remembered the small battery i put in there, that was $190. if you count the drag radials then i am likely over $8k. the nitrous kit isn't mine and the cost isn't included in how much it cost me to build the car.

edit: just remembered the afx wideband and 2 new factory o2's. thats another $300.

Nice job! Clean swap. I like that you kept is simple. Now put a nice cam it! Nothing like having an is300 sitting next to you with the lope of a cammed ls1.

The one in the tx2k11 video is actually an ls3 swap. It was an ls1 last year but he pulled it for the ls3. he is actually a good friend of mine and i sold him the ls3 longblock.

Yup wiring ALWAYS takes the cake for time consumption when it comes to swaps (to do it right and clean).

Lets see some pics

it does not have ac but it needs it. i did put the condensor back on so it has all the inside stuff, condensor and pleanty of room for the compressor. i think i just needs some custom hoses.

lots of pics here >> http://neufamily.org/images/is300gallery/
