OP, I'll try to get a video of my 0-100 tomorrow and upload it for reference. That way we can compare and everyone else can tell me if my turd is too slow too.

Wheels spin free, verified that checking gear ratio in the driveway. I have access to lifts 24/7 so I figure I can run open manifolds for a short time to see what it acts like. I'm hoping its the clogged cat thing, that millisecond when you put your foot down it acts like its gonna take off and then its just got nothing. Its hard to put into words without feeling it I guess.

Compression test/leak down, wouldnt invest anymore time/money untill that was done, stock a4 with a crap gear isnt going to break the sound barrier anytime soon,

Another way of checking the cats is with a laser temp gauge. Before temp/After temp, Left temp. vs. Right temp. If there is an issue it should be creating loads of heat in the cat.

Also when i had my 2.72 Z28, I swapped in 3.42's, lid, and catback. Holy crap it was like a whole new car! I also went through 2 sets of cats on that car when it was bone stock, It would fall on it's face and sound like a helicopter.

first i read all the comments then watched the video and im blown away that was slow. I sware the 2001 bonneville SSEi 3.8L S/C would give that a good run i had years ago.

That engine is missing a ton of power. Probably 100+hp.

Don't bother with the exhaust. If one or both cats were restricted you wouldn't be able to spin the engine up as high as you did in the video. You would hit an RPM wall, like a soft rev limiter. Usually in the 2500-3500RPM range.

If you had low compression or a misfire, you'd probably notice that at idle.

You've got either a bad/contaminated MAF or the PCM is pulling timing (false knock, poor fuel delivery, etc). Cleaning the MAF is part of a modern tune-up.

I agree with post above, i really dont think its a exhaust issue, like i said a compression test/leak down doesnt cost alot of money, if that was my car that is the first thing i do, then once that was ok i would go down the list, that car has some kind of issue, i mean thats close to stock 2v territory

Marc 85Z28, thanks for you're input and I believe you may be on the right track. I pulled drivers side cat today and it was perfect. The motor runs perfectly smooth at all rpms so no mis-fires but could it still be low compression? Uses no oil and plugs look great, as does coolant/oil.

I did clean the maf when I tuned it up, forgot to put that. It had lots of dust/small rocks stuck in the screen. Hosed it all down with electronics cleaner and cleaned the screen out with fine wire. It has a tick in the motor at idle but that's the only time you can hear it. Could that be enough to cause false knock? I need to identify it though. Checking fuel pressure should be my next step and its easy.

Wow, 5 seconds to get from 30-60, and 15 seconds to get from 30-90.

Find a buddy and swap MAF's. My old Trans Am acted like that although not nearly that bad. Changed the MAF and it got a lot better.

Its worth a shot.

If you had that much debris on the screen, you really should replace the MAF and then figure out how all that crap got past the air filter - poorly fitting airbox lid?

Its the maf, unplugged it and the idle cleaned up even more. Jumped in and noticed it even after just putting it in gear and rolling out of the driveway. Then I made this quick vid. Off to find a new MAF! Anyone who's been following this got any handy?

The Cardone remanufactured MAF is decent. You can get one at Advance Auto for $80. Buy it online and use promo code VISA.
