Duys Supra runs nines on 18" drag radials because of his auto tranny. What he was doing to hit the BOV is called brake boosting. Basically you hold the gas and the brake from a roll to put load on the car thus making boost and eliminating turbo lag.
Also a turbo car with an auto lets you stay in the boost from when you hit it till you let off. Thats why when Nick raced the other turbo fox he would pull then drop back durring the shifts then pull again, the white fox would just consistantly pull cause it's in boost the whole time.
