You guys are so stupid....First off the GT500 cobra is going to be faster than a C6 CORVETTE. You can dog Ford all you want but just remember.....were is your camaro, trans am So obviously Ford is doing something rite. How the hell can you call a 500hp running low 12's disappointed I understand you love your chevy, pontiac, or whatever but calling a low 12's HEAVY 500 hp stock car shitty is just plain stupid in my book, and dont forget ford will have their new 6.2L 425 hp powertrain when 2009 mustangs come out so i'm pretty sure they will be coming a lot stronger in the near future

The only thing disapointing about it is how much it weighs in at. Ford definetly should have tried to make a lighter car. I mean cmon it doesn't even come with a spare or jack!

The new 500 is going to be pretty fast, but like you said, it is heavy snd i think Ford screwed up by doing that and not going with the forged bottom ends like the earlier cobras.....I am a GM guy, but if a car looks good or is fast, im not going to deny that, but it would be a better performer if it was a litlle lighter, maybe theyll lighten it up before it comes out

On Oct 2004 issue of Gm High-Tech Performance they got there hands on a stock silver Z06 which dyno 363.6 hp 353.2 tq stock on Goodyear Supercar tires running 11.97@118.80

Just a little pic I made a while back while picking with some Mustang friends.
I always pick with my Mustang friends though. My one buddy, when he first got his Terminator, was so excited about it. We'd always give him a hard time though, like, "Who knew a supercharged small block would be fast?" and call it a dyno queen, you know the usual.

First of all for the C6 debate running 11s. I love how no one on this thread will consider the temp, humidity, elevation ect ect, with the right conditions you can go from a 12.4 down to an 11 easy (going from shitty condtions to good contidions obviously). Secondly I have a dislike for ford greatly(being a car guy I do respect ANYTHING thats fast), the plastic interior in stangs kills me (i've heard the same towards chevy and pontiac tho). Either way you cannot deny that Carrol Shelby is one of the baddest men to ever walk to the planet, I would without hesitation compare him to Babe Ruth.

car n driver put them against eachother and the c6 was killing the stang in every category. n whats even funnier is that when they tested the c6 couple months back it ran 2 tenths faster than the one against the stang. stang ran a 12.9 and vette ran 12.6 1/4 mile. braking handling gas mileage the vette was winning no prob. so apparently 500 hp still cant take a regular vette.

Top Speed winner = Vette (GT500 is governed to 162mph I hear)
Acceleration = GT500
Braking = Vette (Vette is lighter with bigger rotors im sure)
Handling = Vette (Although the GT500 is pretty respectible for a 4K vehicle)
Straight line 1/4 (GT500 No surprise there!)
Honestly it all comes down to what your preference is. Although if someone gave me a GT500 I'd probaly sell it then buy a 03/04 Cobra and Mod it with the extra $$$ Oh and BTW Whoever ran a 12.9 is one sad driver.

noone is thinking about obvious things either how skinny are those tires on the rear of the stang 500 hp on those must really kill 1/4 mile times. im pretty sure some wider better tires and that thing could drop tenths off the time. those are some weenie tires for 500 hp.

You know that tire height is where it's at right. Tire width is far less
important, especially when you're talking about a street radial.

Yea I wouldnt mind owning a Ford I have owned 4 Fox-Bodies but like I said it would have to be a 99-04. Every Mustang before that and after looks like someones ***....
