Dont let this happend to you...








The story is I was going down the expressway at about 55 mph when i hydroplaned and the car was redirected towards the ditch. On my way down into the ditch i hit a milemarker which broke the plastic fender. Then at the bottom of the ditch my drivers side hub assembly and rotor snapped off. From there the car slide sideways far enought to rip my magnaflow sideways and bent them like tin cans. After a good 50 foot slide the car came to a stop and the wheel that broke off proceeded to smack the passenger side fender. To add to the fun the troper who arived at the sceen gave my a ticket for speeds not reasonable and prudent. After hearing this I cocked an attitude and he yelled at me saying if i wasnt driving like an ******* it wouldnt have happend. I wouldn't have minded a ticket for my tries but just b/c i am an 18 year old male in a z28 i had to be doing something wrong. I was not speeding nor was i changing lanes. I was travling in my lane and not passing anyone. Iam kinda venting here but i really need to. Also the car still runs fine and alreaday has the hub+ new rotor on it. Although its still gonna need a lot more work before its back on the road. There is a 1inch different form cente r to center from the drivers side and the passenger side wheels.

I imagine he took your bald tires into consideration for the ticket. The conditions were rain and bald tires. You were driving too fast for those conditions.

Chalk it up as a mistake, learn from it and move on. Its just a simple ticket.

Sorry to hear this, but my tires are only a couple years old and have decent and much better tread than yours and i even hydroplaned going around 45mph and everyone is passing me. My car sucks in the rain and it wasn't even raining hard hard!! Just a consistent rain.

I want everyone to take this as a lesson that wide tires with little tread can be real dangerous in a rear wheel drive car. I don't want to see any other f bodies in this situation. Just remember to be careful out there. As for me, my father and I know have a project to work on for a few weeks and iam going to have to get a beater.


P.S. this happen thursday the 14 and my father and I have already driven it on the road again ($200 later on wheel bearing, rotors, pads). Of coarse it still needs a lot of adjustment and some more parts.

I feel for you being 18 and having cops be dicks to you for your young age. Its horrible in Wichita KS. I wasnt there so he may have been rightful (not saying he was just possible). My friend bought a 2004 STi. Its a damn quick car, but hes 19 and hes gotten 3 tickets in the last 3 months hes owned it. EVERYTIME no matter what he was doing the cop was always a dick, and hes a pretty polite guy. Theres just no way around cops being mean when your young and have a sports car. Next time just say gimme the ticket I dont wanna hear your lecture. (I feel no reason to be nice to cops anymore, this doesnt mean you should cuss them out or anything CLOSE to that at all, just no need to be as polite as possible). Anyways I feel for ya man, hope you get ur car fixed...since ya gotta fix it anyways go for performance parts,that way the new parts will be better

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but **** the police, the only thing they ever do when responding to an accident is hand out tickets. They'll take about two seconds to see if your okay then just start passing out tickets.

ya most cops are a$$ holes and he just added to it i mean come on you wrecked an f-body show some gratitude. i never watn to see an f-body wrecked. but i do my best to stay out of the rain so i get in my beater which doesn't even have working windshield wipers LOL

That sucks...getting a ticket for wreaking your car. Cops where never dicks to me when I got pulled over in my car...hell all let me off with a warning everytime. I am 19 too so.

But glad the wreak wasn't worse man, and that you made it out OK.

Damn that sucks man , I know from experience how Camaros with bald tires handle in the rain - it's a handful at times) props for saving it - could have been alot worse.

That is so retarded that you got a ticket. I have said it forever and I will say it again. Get rid of cops that hand out tickets and install speeding cameras. It will save us tax money and do the same job. Not only that but think of all of the cops that can be placed on drug cases and actual criminal issues. What a *****.
