I play some video game GTA3 and the same thing happens to me. I know it may sound dorky but I think the game explains it... The front has too much traction and the rear starts to slide and can't grip sooner enough to straighten out or the front left brake locked up...

I don't know but did you see him bouncing around in the car? Thats gotta be one horrible day, screw up your car and scare the crap out of yourself.

I think the physics in todays games can give you an idea of what it's like to race differnt cars. Gran Turismo gives almost as good an idea of what it's like to nose a $500k racing Viper into a wall as this vid

They should include driving school as part of the deal when one purchases a Viper.I've heard the majority of Vipers are totaled within a month of someone buying one.
I think what happend is the guy jumped on the throttle & broke loose. He wasn't smooth.Smoothness is key when driving a high-strung automobile.
The car looked like a regular 97 up RT/10 out on a Viper club track-rental day.

He down shifted w/o matching the revs and broke the rear loose. Heal-toe downshifting would have been a good idea here

XFiveLiter is correct. Most likely a down shift
at too great a speed. Too bad...bad day for the fellow.

Looked like he pulled the parking brake. Wtf? Maybe he downshifted into the wrong gear. like first gear instead of third. I dunno. It looked pretty avoidable.

I'm on an e-mail list with the driver's instructor. Here is the REAL story ...

Do they not teach them hoe-toe at that school? Every school i have been to wil not let you on the track until you have the grasp.

He downshifted way too late. Even if he locked up the wheels , if he had completed the downshift before the turn-in point like he should have been taught, he would not have hit the wall.

I'm not sure it's even legal!

Let's draw a line here ...

This is not a formal "school" rather an open track lapping session that gives performance car owners an oppurtunity to stretch the legs of their car. There are instructors to help with the line and basic car control. However, it's not a performance driving school like you might think.

Having said that, there are a lot of performance car owners and operators that would never be considered a "driver".

Read several forums like this one and you will see post after post of clowns losing control and wrecking their car, without a clue as to why it happened. Much like the Viper operator ...
