From a dig, I'd have my money on the LT1. From a roll, I'd put it on the 3vGT.

I can tell you my 95 A4 was mostly stock for a couple years (Moroso and Loudmouth) and I had NO problem putting lengths on 2V GT's, and could even run with the newer ones. (3V's)

An older, slower 93ish GU2 A4 LT1 might be a good race against a 99-04 GT, but so would a 96 SS against a 98-00 LS1 A4.
And the LS1 most definitely has the advantage over the 3VGT.
Maybe next time you should buy a car with some ***** :p
I have never EVER seen a Stock 2V GT go faster then a 14.1 here at the IRP in NY, and my LT1 managed a 13.89 @ 99 mph with NO mods at all.

LT1's are certainly nothing special, but their ALOT better then those crappy 2V GT's
Ah haa haa haaa, no YOU have to be kidding ME! I dont need some dude on the internet to tell whats true, if its something that i've experienced first hand. I've beat an automatic LT1 and an M6 LT1 both from a dig and from rolls several times when i was BONE stock. I have friends who are GM fanatics who can vouch for me on this, but alas I have nothing to prove! Oh and people who say 3V GTs are slow from the factory are people who have not actually driven one. 'nuff said.

Yes well a replacement factory paper unit, not a k&n or anything(two of them do have k&n's, they're all just dd's). And the fastest one of the bunch is an auto/ 2.73 car/paper filter.

Ive driven two bone stock 3v GT's, both 5 speeds. You must have a different perception on what quick is, because both of them were slow as *****. Mid-high 13's is not even quick in my book.

Ive also driven a procharged 05 5 speed, made 430 at the tires. That was also slow.

Really? I've driven many of them...including this one
that makes right around 800rwhp:

Guess what...they are SLOW when stock...and a LT1 would be a good race
for them. The 3V does have some nice potential though, but let's
not get carried away here.

I agree with Unit, the 3V is a very potential motor, but in stock form its a dog. I raced one right b4 I sold my SS, the guy had full exhaust. I put about 4 BUS-lengths on him, although I was a cammed LS1. My buddy raced him the same night with a full exhuast LS1 and 3 bent push rods and still pulled him.

Well as a Ford man I feel your pain, I still have a fox body coupe and an 07 gt but I know you are equaly frustrated in comparison of the two auto makers . Ford with there weak 4.6 and Chevy with there front wheel drive empire that they have now. Yes the Ls1 can whip *** stock for stock and otherwise ,but if the next Camaro is a flop performance wise then you well be faced with the same dilema as us Ford guys. The body of the new Camaro is better looking than the 98-02 Camaros but I hardly believe that the performance will be better ,equal.I love the fox body Mustang and I feel that Ford was on to a good thing! But it ended with the s-n95 body Ford which was lack luster in performance and looks.Except for the 03-04 Cobras which are unaffordable and unpracticle to most of us on a budget the 98-02 ls1 Camaro Firebird will be the fox body of tommorrow for you Chevy guy's , watch out what you say it may come back to you. My 07 is an improvement over the foxbody but bolt on for bolt on way too expensive to make fast.

I hope it isn't.

I remember seeing the numbers for the concept. I hopes its waaay lighter or they have a stripper model like the b4c.

A stripper model with nothing but electric windows and locks would be freaking great.

A real stripper model though. No a/c just a heater and 6sd.

I can't speak for LS1 F-body times cause I've never owned one, but I've had several best friends with them. But I can at least give an honest description how how fast/slow an 05 Mustang is. We only have an 1/8 mile track here, so bear with me...

1 friend had an 06 Mustang GT automatic... bone stock it ran 8.87, but can't remember the mph.
I have an 06 GT stick; I never ran it stock, but when I put a canned tune & cai on it it ran an 8.47 @ 85 mph.
My best friend has an 06 GT stick, also never ran it stock. He put a canned tune & cai on it & ran 8.43 @ 85.
I added cmrc delete plates & longtubes to my car and went 8.32 @ 86 mph at our home track in much hotter air. At Darlington on a different day, the car went 13.02 @ 107.5.
I added 4.10 gears & aluminum driveshaft (still on stock tires), and the car has went 8.18 @ 87. At Mason-Dixon on a different pass, the car went 12.77 @ 108.84.
My neighbor with the same mods as me ran a 12.80 at Mason-Dixon on the same pass as me.

The general consensus for 05+ Mustangs is that they on average run an 8.80-8.90 in the 1/8 & 13.4-13.5 in the 1/4 @ 103/104. These cars in stock trim "feel" ALOT slower than they actually are because of the way Ford calibrated this drive-by-wire throttle body. It has a very soft calibration on it to keep drivetrain clunking to a minimum and make a smoother transition to WOT... basically they calibrated it for grandma. A simple canned e-mail tune transforms these cars from 13.5 cars to 13.1 cars. The 05+ Mustang's strength is in the chassis. Yes my car weighed 3,630 with me in it, but the rear suspension is awesome on these cars... even cavemen can produce 1.89-1.90 60' times in the new Mustangs.

You may think those times are slow, fast, or OK... but those are honest #'s
But the 05 Mustangs seem to be very comparable to the LS1 F-body's here at our local 1/8th track. The 3V Stangs stock generally run 8.80-8.95, and the LS1's generally run 8.75-8.95 here.

To ne honest, I dont see this car being under 3800 pounds. The GTO was over 3700 and this car will be on a similiar platform. Even the Challenger concept car is over 4100 right now.

On another note I have never had a 05-06 GT keep up with me on the freeway ever. He might be able to run a similiar et, who knows. But up top they just cant hang. Same with Mach 1's. Raced 2, 1 with atleast an exhaust and im 2-0. My car is a factory 345HP SLP car and dynoed 317/330 stock. I know thats considerably more than ANY 05-06 GT or Mach1 and we are all within a few pounds of each other. I think the gears in the Mustangs play a huge role in their et's.

But at the end of the day, until my spray is installed My cousin's Whippled Cobra still buries my dick in the dirt.
