+1 customer is always right. Plus The customer may not have wanted to go forced induction and do a whole lot to a smaller engine to push the power that this engine makes stock. Who cares what others do with their time/money. Make damned sure if i had twenty grand to play with I would have done it too!

oh yeah forgot

forget about the money issue that got it in there, now just think of all the possiblities the guy can do w/ starting off at 482hp.that car can become a very nasty and wicked car!!

You should be banned for not posting a video by the way, sponsor or not.
It sounded very similar to an LS1 with exhaust. I had a video of it on the dyno, however someone else used the camera while I was out of town and erased it . The car is now back in FL, so I don't think I'll ever get to take any more video of it.

Thank you! It was just a time consuming swap.

my point still stands. As a performance shop, the choice to use a $13k engine & $10k more just to make it work.... to make under 500hp just to keep up a "Sleeper look" is ignorant at best.... when the same, if not more HP could have been achieved for a fraction of that cost.
The owner of the vehicle owns a Pontiac/GMC dealership in Florida and said that he wanted to do it to be different. He said he doesn't ever drive the car hard and basically wanted to do it just to say he did it.

We've made way more power with our 404ci stroker engines, for a fraction of the cost and made the recommedation to him, but he didn't want to go that route.

I just read the article, very nicely done!

I can understand on the whole "why do it this way?" versus a more budget/proven/road traveled approach, but if the customer has the funds and wants it done, then do it! If we all had the EXACT same set-up because of fear to try something never done before, then the world would be a boring place.

We had a customer with a new Z do a baseline, install headers, and then re-dyno with no tuning and it only picked up 14 RWHP and 23 RWTQ.

exactly i think i was one of the first few ppl to put the MN12 in a fbody people were like WTF?? i love it and couldnt be more happy w/the setup i have now.

being one of the first to do something opens the doors and minds for others to try out, thats why when ppl ask what i have done i tell them everything and dont hide anything like hp numbers or cam specs, cause if someone likes my setup and wants to try it out, then ill try my best to help them achieve or beat my ETs or hp

Where in Fl? Which dealership if it's not an imposition asking; I'd like to see that car

As far as the "price" debate . . . not EVERYONE that owns an F-body is on a certain budget.

Some people are actually quite affluent and don't mind dropping a few thousand here, or a few thousand there every month or so There are those who look at the +$23K this particular customer spent as reasonable

THOUSANDS of F-bodies in the world are "402's," "422's," "Supercharged 408's," etc.
The owner of this vehicle can potentially brag that they have the ONLY LS7 Convertible Firehawk in the world . . . pretty bad-a$$ IMO

i think it's the whole driveability thing. seeing as how he owns a pontiac dealership, he probably didn't want to roll in there with a loud and lopey 408, but wanted the power for the weekends.

the LS7 is a race motor too and he can probably get away with doing warranty work on it at his dealership.

You obviously can't comprehend the phrase that "the customer is
always right." Livernois could've built a 404 or a 427cid motor that
would make more power or they simply could've installed a nitrous
kit to make more power. However...THAT IS NOT WHAT THE CUSTOMER
WANTED OR ASKED FOR.
Understand? I'm sure you have enough
neurons firing upstairs to figure that out.

This is a very unique setup. It makes great power. It appears to be
extremely stock and it's JUST WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTED.

If the customer asked Livernois to turn that Firehawk into a 9 second
car for $20K, that SOB would be running bottom 9's. Count on that.

Move along now son.
