It actually happens. Never seen it so dramatically, but lilttle (and i mean little) pebble size pieces shoot out the exhaust when a cat starts to fail. I have never seen large chunks like that come out before.

I'll have to show this to my dad and see what he says.

so what causes this? is it just not flowing enough air? cats are choking it so it just demolishes them or what??

Usually happens with Exessive heat, age, etc. but in this case i have no idea.

My buddies LT1 did that. It didn't pop it out every where constantly, just a couple good bangs and then it shot the cat innards everywhere. I think a rich condition can cause the cat's to capture fuel and basically ignite.
