Default Paypal fiasco

I could not find a general or off topic forum but wanted to post to inform buyers using paypal.

I wanted to warn all you guys about paypal. Some of you may already know this since they have screwed you over in the past. The story is below

I purchased a part from a member on corvetteforum. The member gave me the wrong email address. I sent paypal payment for $300. The member tells me he didnt receive it and resends his email address, correctly this time. I realize that another person with the incorrect email has received payment via paypal. I call paypal to get the payment reversed before the wrong recipient can take the money out. Paypal says there is nothing they can do and that once I have initiated the payment unless the recipient refunds the payment I am out of luck. I contact the guy I sent the money to via email and immediately start a resolution case on paypal. The guy that got the payment has not contacted me back and paypal emailed me today saying that they have decided there is not enough evidence to decide in my favor in the case. I cant believe that it is so easy for someone to get money erroneously and cant believe that me, as the initiator of a cash payment, can not retract that payment when I realize a mistake. The payment was sent last Sunday and it took them less than a week to decide I had not case. That is the quickest resolution I have ever seen. I will continue to pursue this and really wish there was some other widely acceptable internet payment solution so I could quit using them but unfortunatly I am stuck with thier high fees, crazy policies and unfair decisions. I just wanted to let everyone know before it happens to you. Thank God it was not $3000.

Thanks for the 300 bucks....

Haha sorry, had to do it... Sorry about your money. You sure the guy didn't purposefully send you the 1st email, then pretend that he really used another one... Just seems kind of sketchy...

Open another clain stating that you have not receive your items. Paypal will try to contact the person that received your money and that person will have to show proof that they sent you the correct item. If this person can not show proof, paypal will refund your money. Dont even mention anything about sending the money to the wrong address, it will only confuse the issue.

I would have suspected that but the seller felt so badly for sending the incomplete email that he sent the part to me without payment. I dont want to leave it like this though ya know. I know he made a mistake but the dude that got the money does not deserve it and I feel I need to do EVERYTHING I can to make this right.

I guess I am less concerned about my individual situation and more about other guys making this mistake and loosing money. At this point I have the part because the seller felt bad for sending the wrong email and sent the part anyway. I want to make sure none of you guys run into this with Paypal. If you send payment to the the wrong person you are screwed.

I purchased a GMMG exhaust over ebay, using a PayPal and a credit card. The dude stiffed me and I filed a claim. They gave me the runaround for 2 weeks while we waited for this douchebag to respond!! Finally, PayPal stated that they decided in my favor, but that no funds could be returned to me, because they could not get in touch with the seller..... this was crap

I wrote emails, with no reply over and over and over. Finally, I come home one day and there is a fuc&%$* PayPal customer satisfaction survey in my email.....oh boy! I blasted the hell out of them and within (3) days, I had an email saying that my credit card had been refunded the $450.

What a crock of ****.

ya well unfortunately this is what happens when a stand up guy like cajun gets screwed by paypal and becomes reluctant to use it...eventually u will have more scammers than honest people using paypal...i personally have not had bad experience with paypal yet...keeping my fingers crossed...however i have always worried that after i am paypal'd just after i send the part the buyer could somehow take the money back out...not sure if this is possible but ya never know...sorry bout ur luck cajun...imo buyer should be FULLY responsible for sending you the incorrect email and should send u the part without payment...just a little thinkin outside the box...imagine how easy it would be for this "buyer" to give u that bogus email and in reality it is one of his friends and they split the money you just sent pretending to never know where the money went...thinkin about this is pissin me off

People have to realize that PayPal is not a federal backed banking institution like a bank or credit union!

They are independent and have their own rules governing the money and transactions.

It is not fair, but that is the way it is. Paypal should not be used IMO....and I do not.

I also had a situation 2 years ago against PayPal, they dragged it out for weeks and attempted to stiff me on the bill. One letter drafted from my lawyer and PayPal caved in instantly. The next day, I close out my PayPal account, permanently!

Like others have mentioned, I also use my credit card to fund paypal transactions. I recently made the mistake of using my credit card and the $53 that was in my paypal account to buy a bumper off of some guy for my WRX. I got stiffed by the guy and never received the bumper so I contacted paypal and filed a dispute. They decided in my favor but said that they couldn't refund my money because the seller didn't have any funds in my account. WTF!!! I was so pissed. Paypal requires you to give them your bank account information but yet they rely on paypal account funds for refunds. They need to change their policy to say that by giving paypal your bank account information, paypal is authorized to withdraw funds after a thorough investigation to refund funds. I know, I know...that just opens up another way for people to scam others but it's complete B.S. that paypal has the means to get you your refund but they don't give a ****. In the end, I did end up getting the majority of my payment back by filing a claim with my credit card company but I'm still out $53.

SCREW YOU PAYPAL!!!

I hate hearing about this crap. Paypal is such a shitty service. Fortunately, I haven't been screwed over by them (yet). Does anyone use Google Checkout? I can't imagine their funds transfer service being worse than Paypal/eBay. I wish more people used that. I hope someday Google creates their own online auction and run eBay and Paypal into the ground.

Hope everyone works out for you. I hate dishonest people.

The real kicker is that ebay is forcing you to use paypal by not allowing you to accept money orders or use some other online pay services

From what I have been told, you are able to reverse payment somehow...... Hasnt happened to me personally. BUT. they send you the money and wait for you to ship out the part, then they reverse the payment out of your account.
