Default Not sure what to do as a seller this time

Here's the story in a nutshell. Sold a guy some parts feb 22. One was a 3 bar map. Yesterday he discovers it's no good. I don't know any background between then and now. It worked on my when removed but I put myself in his shoes and tell him to return it and I'll refund him when it gets here and ask him how much it was. The total was $125 for everything...he says $75 of that was the sensor. After double checking my stuff it was $60 for the sensor. I"m leary now. Is the sensor even bad? Did he pull a switch a roo. I want to be fair but now I don't know...after 3 months on an electrical part. What's everyone think?

you sold it to him on feb 22 and just no discovers its not good. That would make me suspect something right then. Most auto parts places don't warranty/exchange anything to my knowledge.

for all you know he could have put it on and ran it the whole time then it messed up the other day and decided to tell you he just put it on and its bad.

^^Agreed. I'd also be cautious of his reasonings.

Honestly the only way I would even consider giving a refund after this amount of time would be if the buyer was a service members & he/she had been deployed & just returned home to discover it didn't work upon install.

Otherwise like stated above they could have been running it all this time & it took a dump on them & now they want their money back. It's just harder to trust someone who has had it in their possesion this long verses someone who bought it & just arrived home from deployment.

Even if you gave the guy the benifit of the doubt, its an electrical component. once he receives it, you dont know where he stored it, or whether he dropped it, or what happened to it. he bought it, its his problem now. life sucks, if he wanted something with a warranty, then he should have bought new.

After 3 months I wouldn't have taken it back (no way no how). But, I wouldn't have told him that I would refund his money either. Whether he used it and fried it, or if it was actually bad is kind of irrelevant now. I think you made a mistake by offering a refund. You told him you would refund his money and if you're a stand up guy, you will follow through. We are only as good as our word. Even if we agree to stupid things sometimes.....just my opinion.

Message to the buyer if he can read it : "Use ur common sense, how can u ask a refund on an electrical part after 90 days" !!!!
No sense to refund him.
