If you guys are trying to **** the site owners off, you are doing a decent job. If I see any more blatant post count abusers (solid's example) you will be considered a scammer by default and we will just ban you permanently.

Maturity please.

Not trying to **** anyone off, just making light of the current situation without griping and complaining about it. Im glad at least someone got a laugh out of it. Gordon

Personal, I think this is a band aid fix. I've been a member for 2 1/2 years and have bought all kinds of stuff from many different members. I don't post much because most of what I've learned about LS1's I've learn here and there are alway lots of members who like to answer the easy questions. But I'll just throw a few more posts on so I can continue to buy/sell.

firm believer of not broke don't fix it. 100 post rule won't do it.
plenty of ways not to get scammed, several i already posted and have been rule of thumb for years. HOWEVER, there is NO WAY to completely fix the problem.
the only people that will complain are the guys that don't have 100 posts. go figure

i don't like to post on hear because someone always ends up saying "your price is too high", "you need to consolidate your posts", "use the search button", "WHATEVER", there are as many rude people on hear as there are some nice guys......for one i have never seen nine ball flame anyone but i don't have time to sit at the computer and "fight" with some idiot on the other end.
i like to read the posts and you can usually search and find whatever answer you need, someone has almost always had the same problem before, but forcing us to get on hear and post when we don't need to may be asking a little much.

even if you ban someone, what we go from 20 posts to 0 and start over under a new name? i mean, what did you guys think would happen?

Some people need to grow up.I deal with rules and regulations set by other people on a daily basis.I either work within the rules set forth or step aside and don't participate.A 100 post minimum is a very liberal rule that even a light user should be able to achieve fairly quickly.I don't know if people that only post to sell stuff are using the the Parts For Sale section in the spirit that it was intended.I though it was for participants on the site to buy, sell, swap parts with other members, not for someone to drop in only when they have a part to sell.

see you have 1400 posts, like i said why would you complain?
you've been a member for 1 year more than me, but have almost 1400 EXTRA posts.
you either have a LOT of questions and comments, or not a lot to do on your time off.
by the time this thread is over though, i'll have my 100 in.

someone please, please up (ttt) my headers in the for sale section please, since i'm unable to get them back to the 1st page.

and by the way, i've only used the for sale section 3 times, and have been successful 1 of 3 so far, and was never ever asked why i only had less than 20 posts, there is a private message section that users can also use.

Look, this wasn't set up in some dictatorial fashion. I'd prefer that we all be able to post in any section with any post count. The issue is with a couple of recent high profile cases. The whole idea here is to protect all of us. We're trying to look out for some of you guys. I know many of you would be upset over a $20 air filter, but imagine an $8000 motor, or a set of heads... For me and most folks, that would hurt. Again, we aren't perfect, so if you folks have an idea that you think has merit and will deter the bad guys out there, while allowing the good guys to sell their stuff, please post up. Heck, go browse some other forums to see what other sites do... We've got to try something, so we'll take whatever constructive input you guys might have...

I like the idea of trying to protect the people on this board from scammers, but I think that most of the responsibility should be on the person buying the goods. Ask for a phone number and call them, ask for references from other members on the board, U]use paypal and make sure they are verified, etc. I personally don't post on here unless I have a valid point, need help or can offer someone help. I doubt I'll have 100 posts by the end of the year and I am on here for at least 2 hours a day reading and studying other peoples posts so that I can modify and fix my own car, since that what I like to do. I have sold and bought on this site twice in the past month and had great success. Whatever you guys come up with I will except but it will hurt a lot of honest people on this site, like myself. Anyways, this IS the best F-Body site out there and am glad to be a member.

I like the PayPal idea... but I also undertand that at least the Board is trying.
Maybe a special tag, that allows you to put something up in the for sale section. To get the tag you have to have a verifiable PayPal account, and/or phone number and/or address... Just a couple of ideas.

i for one would be pissed over 20 bucks, but when i do, i try to protect myself. my headrests were a good example with blackhawk181 i think. i damn sure didn't want to send my headrests and money to him without anything in return, but he did have a ton of pictures and feedback.......3rd party seems to me to be the safest way. there are even shops (in paintball) that charge a small fee just so i can send them my equipment that someone is buying while they send them the money order just so this kind of stuff is kept to a minimum.

if i were to pay 8000 for a motor over the net, i would have to have name, rank, and serial number, color of mothers underwear......i mean you've got to protect yourself for god's sake. have some common sense.
i've never done paypal, but that seems to be as safe as any other, but i almost always try to do 3rd party especially if i am the one sending the money.

there has to be a sponsor somewhere out there that would be willing to do a swap for a fee, for a friend, or something. i don't know 1% fee, 5% fee, how much would YOU be willing to pay to make sure you received an 8000 engine?

this is EXACTLY the same point i was trying to make........
just because i don't post doesn't make me a newbie
any question you could possibly ask has 99% of the time already been asked more than once.

Everyone's concerns are being noted. We are considering a 50 post min, or a min of 6 months membership instead. We are trying to limit the 1-post scammers that register a new account just to scam people. By imposing participation requirements, it makes more work for them to commit fraud here.

"SLICK" is nowhere in my real or screenname. you really need to think about how you're coming off to everyone here (not so good). Pro Stock John has made it a point to go after scammers but he's just one man and can't do it all by himself . no one said you were a scammer because of a low post count , it's not a personal attack against you . try this : start up your own website , put in a classifieds section , and see how it is before YOU have one hell of a headache. it's their site , their rules , hate it for ya. my really hot G/F even thinks it's fair. you can resort to namecalling , it's just gonna make you look worse . make some posts , share some knowledge , let us get to know ya, is that unreasonable? hardly. i've even made a suggestion about a rating system for sellers/buyers here. instead of calling the admins "DICTATORS" (and that's really not gonna help your cause )give 'em some input .'nuff said
BLAH BLAH BLAH I don't care to hear about your personal life or your girlfriend. It is obvious from other member threads that no one can stop scammers.NO ONE!Whether a person has 10,100,1000 posts still doesn't stop someone from scamming. As far as headaches go no one forced the "administrators" to start this web site. These problems come with the territory.Yes the admins make the rules but how long has this web site been active? Now suddenly there is a problem with scammers.I am not a scammer nor should anyone under 100 posts be treated as such.Whenever i have posted parts for sale I have either put my e-mail address and/or my telephone #.To me that shows that I am pretty legit. If people are so concerned with buying on the internet then get off the internet and buy somewhere else.If a person doesn't accept paypal ,don't buy from them.IT IS
ALL UP TO PERSONAL PREFERENCE.NO ONE IS TELLING YOU TO BUY FROM ANYBODY!It is common sense HELLOOOOOO!
