Default Discrimination(100 minimum posts)

So anyone under 100 posts is a thief? That my friends is DESCRMINATION!As you say in your "disclaimer" anyone could be a scammer regardless of the number of posts they have made. You are contradicting yourselves! If it is "buyer beware"then
what does it matter? The only thing you moderators can do is boot them off.
This web site nor its' DICTATORS are held accountable if someone gets stung
anyway.Hellooooooooo!

it's their site , it's their rules and if you don't like the way they do things, well you know what to do then. sounds like a pretty fair rule to me .

That is easy for you to say SLICK with 289 posts.Sounds like you need to get a life and get away from the front of your computer since you have soooo many posts in such a short time. But as they say it's your life or in your case A LACK OF A LIFE!

This sort of thing is done for the protection of the members. Many times, a member who scams people will sign up several names from several locations to continue their scamming spree. LS1tech can not watch members every second of each day nor can they be held responsible for the wrong doing's of others. However, by making the post count a bit higher for the classified section, this will weed out most of the people who come here JUST for that purpose. The site is not trying to discriminate against anyone, just trying to provide a safer atmosphere for those people who buy parts on the board. If you could give any further suggestions, we have open ears. Instead of bashing the way things are done, try to provide us with realistic alternative ideas.

Its credibility. And you're starting off the wrong way. Don't be all butthurt cause you don't like the rules.

I am only reciprocating to basically being called a scammer since I don't have the required number of posts.I feel that if special criteria has to be fulfilled then only those that have recently joined should have to meet this requirement. There should be a cut off date as to when you joined this site.I have been a member since April 2003
and have never scammed anyone! Now all of a sudden I am being treated as if I have! It's not my fault that there are others who scam people yet I am indirectly being punished for their wrong doings.I don't sit for hours in front of
my computer which is why I don't have enough posts.I like to browse for parts now and then and up till yesterday sometimes try to sell some of my parts to other members.I didn't worry about the number of posts I had but now I'm made to feel that anyone with less than 100 posts is guilty till proven
innocent.

So then "wise devilbird" how does someone gain credibility to sell on this site?I don't recall in the agreement to join this site ,a credibility clause.I'm not looking for your or
anyone's approval here.I shouldn't have to.Maybe I joined this site to buy and sell parts only.I didn't see any restrictions when i joined this site.

I agree 100 posts to sell items is . Just because some of us dont post to every thread like some do why should we be punished. I only post when I need help or can offer a valid answer. I dont post to all threads like "pictures of us" and "How old were you when you bought your first house" crap.
Maybe this needs rethought.

I'll respond. We have been looking for a solution to cut down on newbie scammers. I'm sorry if you think it's discriminatory but our alternatives were far more severe, the most extreme of which would have been to shut that area down.

By making the minimum requirement 100 posts, it also gives the user the opportunity to do some searching on the seller and to see if the person seems legit.

Maybe instead of 100 posts, it should be a lesser
number of "meaningful" posts. Like, not {For Sale,
Lounge, ...}. But this gets messy to implement.

The only guy who ever burned me on here had
over 100 posts (QUIK02SS, Ryan Sabrsula).

Maybe the answer is that anyone with a low post
count, should be made to provide some verification
of their -real- identity, home address & phone
to some kind of 'board "ID escrow". In fact, I think
it would be good if -all- For Sale sellers had to
sign up with real-life verification. Though this is
likely to be a real burden for the administrators.

Accountability is the key. Post count != accountability,
only persistence.

The problem then is who will manually approve thousands of emails.

RAMAIRNUT, you are over-reacting here. Nobody is calling you a scammer directly or indirectly. Lately we have had several NEW scammers register here to scam people out of their money. They purposely create a new account and sell something they do not have. This 100 post restriction will discourage scammers from having it so easy, as they will have to participate on the site in order to gain classifieds privileges.

Our classifieds sections are a FREE service. You are more than welcome to go pay to advertise your items on ebay or in your local newspaper.

I doubt you will find ANY other car site that has helped out with scamming cases or helped curb scamming as much as we have. We are trying to prevent this crap, for everyone's benefit.

Personally, I'd be open to removing the 100 post restriction if all buyers were forced to post their full contact info.

First and Last name
physical address
valid telephone number

That would also curb the scammers, and anyone not willing to provide such info should be regarded as suspicious anyways.

There are very few bad apples out there but there are some, it may not be the job of this forum to protect it's members from scammers but at least there trying. RAMAIRNUT something needed to be done, do you have a better idea? I will say this, just because someone has a 100 post doesn't mean there a honest person. A piece of trash is a piece of trash no matter how many post they have. JMO

We're discussing other alternatives right now and one of the Admins will post up any solutions we decide to try instead of the current approach.

And how many posts did Hugger SS have? 355. I don't think the 100 post count is gonna help much personally. I only have 55 posts and I am sure anyone who knows or has dealt with me here knows i am NO scammer.

I think personal references is an excellent idea. I personally have used other LS1tech members as "references" when i have sold or bought items here. It gives one "piece of mind" if anything else whether your selling or buying.

Nine ***** full contact info is also an excellent idea. As much info as possible about who you are dealing with is always a good thing.

Maybe have a set of guidelines that must be met on the part of both buyers and sellers to complete an transaction? Protect both parties involved.
#1 References
#2 Tracking numbers or delivery confirmation numbers required on everything shipped. Would have documentation if there is a problem, also help settle disputes. I think it costs like a $1.50? more to send a letter with delivery confirmation. This would let the seller know money is on the way. Also have proof seller got money.
#3 Payment must be sent within 2 days of buyer/seller agreeing on price/terms of item.
#4 Item must me shipped within 2 days of recieving payment. Item shipped with either a tracking or confirmation number.
#6 Furnish pics, if possible, of items being sold.

Just a couple of ideas,
Darrin

how about this, any deals made will have to be COD?. that solves most of the issues. that way the buyer can actually receive the merchandise, and then seller will get paid.

on another note, ramair nut, if 100 post minimum pisses you off, my suggestion is post the minimum asap.

and just so you know, ramairnut , I DO have a life and a damn good one at that.I happen to work second shift and there's not much to do at 2:00 in morning.too many people have ripped off and these guys are at least trying to do something about it instead "gee that sucks for ya, man" , i have made a number of significant posts here and will continue to do . "SLICK" is nowhere in my real or screenname. you really need to think about how you're coming off to everyone here (not so good). Pro Stock John has made it a point to go after scammers but he's just one man and can't do it all by himself . no one said you were a scammer because of a low post count , it's not a personal attack against you . try this : start up your own website , put in a classifieds section , and see how it is before YOU have one hell of a headache. it's their site , their rules , hate it for ya. my really hot G/F even thinks it's fair. you can resort to namecalling , it's just gonna make you look worse . make some posts , share some knowledge , let us get to know ya, is that unreasonable? hardly. i've even made a suggestion about a rating system for sellers/buyers here. instead of calling the admins "DICTATORS" (and that's really not gonna help your cause )give 'em some input .'nuff said

COD worse case scenarios:
Seller could send you a brick in the box.
Buyer could refuse shipment and seller is stuck eating shipping costs
