Default Pay Fast when dealing with VTESPEED

VTESPEED was selling some rods and pistons here on the board. He and I had worked out a deal in pms for the set on Saturday. I told him I would send the payment Sunday but I was delayed out of town and couldnt send the payment until around 6 am Monday morning.

Today I get notification that he refunded my money because he sold the pistons and rods to someone who paid before me, and that paypal has put a 4 day hold on the funds.

We had a contract for these parts and VTESPEED backed out of it with no notification to me. He never told me that I needed to pay asap or that there was a possibility of there being another buyer that he was working with.

Evidently the basic contract law principles of offer and and acceptance dont mean much to this seller, so buyer beware.

Well when 90% of people who say they're going to buy something back out I can understand why he did that.

You said you would send payment sunday, you didnt. If it were me I would just take it as another lost buyer who didnt bother to tell me and put them back for sale.

Nothing against you but it happens. I have dealt with VTESPEED and hes a stand up honest guy.

The difference between Sunday and Monday morning is negligible. There should have been little reason to sell to another buyer. VTESPEED should have at least contacted you prior to accepting an offer by another buyer.

LS1_SS, as other members have so graciously pointed out to me in the past, just because a member has been good to deal with personally in the past, does not mean they will be in the future.

Im sorry that you feel wronged for this.

I had multiple buyers emailing regarding purchasing these rods/pistons.

You sent me a PM saying that you were going to send payment sunday. Before your PM there was another one a few hours sooner stating that they would purchase them and they were payed for immediately by paypal from another user.

Just because you send someone a PM saying you will take them, doesnt mean before you sent that, that someone else hadnt already done the same thing before you.

You were not the buyer, and I immediately refunded your money when i saw that you had sent it. I will contact an admin to remove your negative trader feedback because I am in no way involved with a transaction with you. If they do not remove it then unfortuneately I will have to leave you negative as well. Thanks

VTESPEED, so there was no deal ever struck to sell the set to him in the first place? Let me know, and I'll look into the negative feedback issue for you.

Here are the PM's.

Why would he send me his paypal address if he had already sold the items, when he could have just as easily said that he had another buyer?

Best price I can do is $550 shipped on them both. Let me know, yes I take paypal.
What is your paypal address? Consider them SOLD!
Whonosewhose@yahoo.com
I will be sending the money later today. Now I just need to find a crank!

Thanks,
Mike

By his own admission, he had sold the pistons to me when the other person paid. I sent the pm asking him for his paypal address and telling him I would buy them at 11:42 am cst on the 8th. By law when I accepted his counter offer of $550, the pistons were sold. He responded with his paypal address at 6:21pm cst on that same day, so I assumed that the deal was made and I sent payment as soon as possible. Even after I told him that I was going to pay later that day (the 9th) in a pm at 8:14 am cst he never responded telling me that the parts were already sold to someone else (which he now says they were), so I went ahead and paid him at 3:49 am his time on the 10th.

20 hours is not that long to wait for payment for an item.

If those Pm's are true thats pretty crappy VTESPEED. If somebody had already sent a message like you claimed stating they would buy why would lead him on? Why tell him a lower price to wheel and deal then give him your paypal account? Not cool.

Sounds to me like you were entertaining offers from multiple parties at the same time VTESPEED, and you didn't let them know that whoever paid first got the goods. Communication is key and you didn't do a great job at that from my perspective. When I'm selling things I let people know they either have dibbs or if the item is open for whoever gets the money to me first.

Also, you should only give out your paypal address to the person that you actually sell the item to. Giving out your paypal address gives people the impression you are selling them the item. To give it to someone who may or may not be the buyer only adds to the confusion and complexity of a situation and in this case caused problems.

I'm glad you promptly refunded this individual's money, as it was the right thing to do, and I don't see any wrong doing here, just a misunderstanding, and maybe a slightly off way of conducting business. You should re-think that part of how you conduct online transactions in the future to avoid these issues, as while you haven't done anything wrong, per-se, it reflects on your reputation when people look at you as a seller.

I am going to look into removing the negative feedback for both parties involved.

I had several people say they wanted them but no one got a confirmation from me saying "These are sold to you". The first person who confirmed to me they wanted them I sold them to.

I communicated as best as I could with the 5 people messaging me.

He did not send payment when he said he was going to and waited till the next day. If you tell me your going to pay for something by midnight and dont, at 12:01 I will sell them to the first person who offers.

Please remove the negative feedback I left him..and the one I recieved if you feel fit. I feel this was just a misunderstanding and I handled it the best way I knew how.

I will just say I will be more careful in the way I deal with several people at once trying to get something. I do apologize if I handled anything poorly in anyones opinion and will make sure I handle anything in the future in a way that will be less likely to cause a repeat.

I will give someone up to 48 hrs to pay after they say they will cause sometimes people forget or get to busy to remember...Maybe I'm just to nice one time I waited up to 5 days for a payapl transaction ...then again most times I put sale pending and take others names and tell 1st buyer what their deadline is.
