Smile Momma Needs Help!

My husband's birthday is coming up , and due to our not having cleaned out the garage - his car has sadly been banished to the unprotected driveway. Therefore, it will be hibernating through the winter in the open air and elements.

I do feel his pain, and would like to get him one hum dinger of a cover - soft, warm, cozy and non-scratchy on the inside, and stainless steel on the outside

He (we've), but really he, has a 99 camaro z28 (and it sure is pretty) and I'd like to help him keep it that way. I keep coming back to the Weathershield HD/HP Series by Covercraft. I just want to make sure I'm not missing some uber-secret even better cover only known to people "in the know" (which I'm obviously not)

So, can ya help me? And honey, if you by chance see this and realize this is me - tell me what you want, but act REALLY surprised and impressed when you get it. *kisses*

TheWife

BTW - I've cross posted this on a couple of forums - as a heads up, I already know I need an "all weather cover", and if you have your car in a garage and don't know what to tell me? There's really no need to respond...

Off the top of my head, the Superweave from the California Car Cover Co. comes to mind. I would provide a link but I can't remember if they are board sponsors or not.

Edit: Without giving away too much, what part of the country are in from (north, south, etc.) and just how harsh are the winters there?

allbaugh - yah, I know, and he feels the same way Sadly, its a one car garage, and is being used for storage - and it has to be used this way for the moment.

Soooooooooo, I'm doing what I can. He's already 200'dollared me to death with "just one more thing" for his car and "then he'll be through" *cough*... might as well protect it any way I can.

Check out Wolf car covers. You can het them from Summit Racing or Jegs, as well as on Ebay. High quality cover that breathes very easily while remaining bulletproof to the elements

OP - just a thought. Surely he has one in mind. Maybe you could joke with him and tell him there's not any good ones made, so he replies "Well (insert brand here) makes a good one!". Then you could laugh it off, and see about finding it.

I'm just trying to help. Your post cracked me up. I wish more women were in touch to the automotive portion of a man's needs like that. I wish you the best of luck in your search.

You see, he hasn't done his research either. I mean it's not something shiney, it doesn't make noise, it doesn't "go faster", improve performance in any way (directly), and is incredibly non-technical. Therefore, while he knows it's important, "he'll get to it eventually".

I only keep envisioning that first wintery day as he stands in the bay window looking at his car covered in ice, slosh and bits of leaves.. that I'll have to put up with the grump-meister for the rest of the day/weekend/month.

Oh, and I'm in touch all right.. cause this topic keeps touching my wallet (and the automation part drives a lot of his other parts) What I may actually do, since I'm finding most of the high-end custom covers are non-returnable, is just print out a car that's got a cover on it, wrap it around a blank check and be done with it

The SLP one should be good and it's meant to be a perfect fit.

Btw, it's supposed to be really cold so a lot of ice is expected this winter, cleaning the garage might be the very best option, just in case.

Also, I haven't heard "hum dinger" since I was like 5

find a friend in that lives in an appt. complex. then have them ask the manager if they can rent an extra stall. then they give you the key and you give them like 50 bucks a month or whatever. might not be cheaper than the car cover i guess....

heh, what can I say - I grew up down south where we ate fried spam sammiches, ate funyuns and washed it down with rc cola.. "hum dinger" was common. And I'm not that old.. or at least I don't feel it.

I know - I do hear we're supposed to have it bad...asked the hubs this morning if we shouldn't truly make an effort to clean out the garage. He just looked at me and sighed

LOL - as with anything, everything is in moderation. I'm positive I have a few annoying traits.

Have you ever looked into a storage space for either his car or all the crap in the garage?

Another vote here for California Car Cover. A bit expensive but well worth it in quality. I have the dust top one to cover it and keep the dust off indoors.
