Default How to pick up .3 tenths @ the track???

went to the track a few days ago and started out with a 12.27 and ended w/ a 12.00. i think one more pass i would have gotten my 11 sec. but the track closed. just looking to get .3 faster w/out anything crazy and w/out nitrous. i just had my shift points moved to 6600 from 6000. im still on stock 3:23 gears and know 3:73 would help but not enough to pick up .3, any ideas?

I read your sig all what is your bolt on list? does that include an EWP or UDP? and with that cam I believe your shift points should be around 6500. why did you change it to 6000. also to could look into some suspension parts.

i have nitto 555r's that were dead hooking. i cut a 1.69-60ft. i dont have a udp, heard of a lot of people having charging issues when they put on an udp. i have a loudmouth exaust so i dont think a cut out would do to much. i have lca's. and like mentioned above, my shift point was at 6k and is now 6600.

It doesn't hurt to add a little detail when asking such a vague question. What's the break down of the whole run? You're saying that it went 12.0 with 6000 shift point? It would probably pick up 3 tenths off the 6600 shift points alone. Any weight reduction?

yeah i hit the 12.00 with the 6k shift points. the only weight reduction i did was taking out the spare and jack. i dont want to really take to much more out. i really dont want to take to much more out. my trap isnt all that great as i have an auto, but was 113.79. as far as being faster with the mods i have, i really thought it would be, but i am running faster or around the same times as people with more done to their cars.

Your trap is good for 11.7 if you can get it off the line quicker. I would go to 3.73s or 4.10 with that cam. I am pretty sure that the gears will really wake it up.

When I get a stall I'll meet you at Rockingham. Don't settle for less just because no one else can pull it off either.

My car runs better when I leave the junk in the back alone. I just got Ryan to move my shift points up like yours and I went from 12.01s to 11.95s trapping 113.04 both runs. My Vigalante is a 3200 and I been told by several people than we are stalled at too low a RPM. I plan over the winter to send mine back to P.I. and have it restalled higher. The RPM banner on the windshield is good for 3/10ths by it self.

ok i dont know how to multi quote so ill address each person.
dcsls1: that is some funny ****!

nc98z: yeah i did have a 4k vig that actually was a 4400, it was really nice and would of gotten me the time im wanting, but it was to loose for nitrous, and nitrouse is in the near future so i had it tightened up a bit. also i did pick up an rpm banner so that alone should get me in the 11's

joncr96z: looking forward to seeing you at "the rock"! are you on horsepowerjunkies? if so were you at the track rental this past sunday?

I've never tried it but I've been told that if you take off your front sway bar that it will allow the car to transfer weight when you launch and its suppose to be worth a couple of tenths at the track. I wish I had known you were gonna send your Vig back for a stall speed reduction. We could have traded convertors and saved us all some money.

I'd say an underdrive pulley to start. I run one and haven't had any charging problems. Just make sure that your idle is at least 850 rpms and you should be fine. The 3.73s would pick you up quite a bit in my opinion as well. The car is hooking just fine as well. Do you have any dyno numbers for your car?
