It happens when the key is in the ignition, and turned, but not as far as the engine turning over, and when the doors are open. Thats when I hear the warning pings, I guess it lets you know the keys are in the ignition when exiting the car.
yea, that's it!
I think the op's talking about the chiming when you have the key in the key in with the door open or when you have the headlights on without the car running.

The door chime. What bothers you about it? And when?
It bothers me when I'm cleaning the car or working on the interior and want to listen to the radio, or need to unlock the shifter to get the center console off.
I just take a screw driver and put the door latch in the closed position.
It turns the chime off, and you can't lock the keys in it.
And to put it back to normal pull the handle and use a screw driver to move the latch to the open position.

L"SS"1 I believe the chime is inside of the body control module. Open it up and pull the chime out of it or find the wire going into it the module and cut it.
Thanks for the help L"SS"1

Like this: Heres what it looks like.
Right click and highlight it in blue"heres what it looks like", then click "insert link" and paste the link in the box that pops up.

theres 1 of 2 ways to usually get it to stop. the chime either comes from behind the gauge cluster,
so you have to remove it (usually a few screws) and just find the wires for it, or you can tear apart
the steering column to get behind the steering wheel near the lock cylinder, and usually its a small black
plastic thing (about the size of your fingernail) with 2 flat copper pieces about 3/4" long. take that out
and your all good.
