Default best cam for a daily driven car

What is the best cam for a daily driven car that will make the most power? I do not like the choppy idle sound either, I would like something that sounds stock. Also with the cam listed, please tell me what kind of power increase I could expect from a full bolt on car with this cam.

I have put the LS6 cam in a couple cars with headers, catback, lid and 3000 stall both cars went 12.20ish one had a diablosport tuner the other I tuned with HP tuners. Either way they both sounded like a stock cam.

Iirc, the lope comes from LSA, which stock is 114, iirc. I'm running a 232/240 .598/.608 110lsa and it has a little lope to it. I DD mine, and it made 418rwhp with the cutout off.

tr224 if your exhaust is quiet it will sound stock. my tr224 114 lsa sounds pretty evil with duals and turndowns though

Did anybody say 224 yet? lol Or you may want smaller than that. Sounds like you want a smaller cam and with a wide LSA (114 or more) to reduce overlap to help it sound more like stock.

One of your best bets for a stock sound would be a hotcam with a nice tune. With full bolt ons you would have about 370whp. The Hotcam sells for 500 with cam and springs.

Can I vote for TR224???

There's really not much that hasn't already been said about the TR224. It really is hard to beat for all around power and drivability...

Thanks,
Shane

Drivability is relative to the individual, what you drive on a daily basis may differ from others..also look at how long is your daily drive and how much traffic do you have to deal with...it's all in the tune, a shitty tune can make a small cam drive like crap but a good tuner cam make a donkey dick cam have good street manners...look into cheater cams(Thunder Racing) or have Pat G(www.guerramotorsports.com) spec you a custom grind just do your research and don't just listen to what everyone else is telling you..chances are they haven't driven or owned more than 1 cam

Actually, lope comes from overlap. The more degrees of overlap, the more lope. LSA is part of the formula to determine overlap however.

That pretty much eliminates almost every aftermarket cam out there with the exception of the LPE GT2-3 cam. The specs are below. It's like a LS6 cam on mild steroids. I would recommend looking for a used 02-04 LS6 cam. It requires no tuning (but recommended) and idles exactly like stock. I ran one with bolt ons and a small converter and ran 12.4's all day in hot weather.

Actually, there are other stock idle cams out there. As mentioned above, our CheaTR series of cams offers stock like idle and drivability with a substantial increase in power with or without headers. The LS1 CheaTR spec's are: 214/230 .601"/.578" 117LSA. This cam would be great in any daily driver.

Thanks,
Shane

Along these lines; Why exactly are the GMPP Hot Cam and ASA cam only at .525" lift? Was this done for universal fitment in any LS engine? Or to eliminate any possibility of bind in any given LS engine combination? Seems they would have just left the LS6 lift specs on the Hot and ASA items... but...

Usually a stock cam is best for a daily driver. lol. Sounds like you should leave the cam alone and check out some nawz? You can have more power with nitrous.
