Default Converting A4 to M6

I have an A4 00 Trans am WS6. I hate the fact that it's auto and I'm thinking of converting it to an M6. Anyone know how much this will cost/time involved? OR should I just sell it and buy a Corvette.

Check the tranny section.
Has been done plenty.
Price depends on parts and how much you do yourself.
The fact alone that you ask makes me believe you will hire someone to do the work so it will cost you.

I was searching for it via ls1tech and I couldn't find anything. Google pointed me to that link you posted Mattx. And I would be doing it myself just wanted to get some input on it before I did it. And the reason I wanted it converted is because theres nothing like runnin the gears

If I was you I would spend the extra money now while you are converting and get the tick adjustable mastercylinder and a good slave cylinder. Without them you will have shifting problems at WOT.

I have a list of everthing at work but IIRC it was about 3K in parts no labor. I will try to post it up but I am ssure it is the tranny section if you search.

Tranny
pedal
console
shifter
cross member
master/ slave cylinder
Clutch
throw out bearing
flywheel
Wiring mod

And a few other I can't remember. I try to flush out the list at work.

Heres my total swap list and prices.
M6 conversion and rear gears, as you might notice I did the rear a few times.

I just did the swap found a parts car took everything from that, got the tranny built, parted out the car, made all my money back plus enough for built tranny/clutch. Did the swap with my friend. So basically didn't spend a penny. And oh ya, I love it.

Yeah, I'm going to look at a few parts cars in the next couple of days. Plus theres nothing wrong with my tranny now so I can sell that when I'm done with it all. Maybe I can find someone locally that wants to swap.

Or you can do what I did....later buy a roller and end up with two almost identical cars with the same mods. One A4 and one M6

with the price of fbody's now, its not worth paying $2000 for the swap when you can buy a decent fbody for $5000. i say sell the ws6 and buy a vette.

over the 1.5 years i had my t/a, if i didnt drop 1 penny into it, i would of had enough money to trade it in for a c5 vette by now. hell you can buy a c4 vette cheaper than for a m6 swap

Does your A4 have a stall in it?

I did an M6 swap in my 01 SS and swapped back to A4....
Just be VERY certain of why you want an M6 before you do it.

Also..."should I sell it and buy a Vette"? A vette is a totally different animal. I think you should think carefully before you decide.

No, I dont have a stall in it. This isn't really a track car, it's more of a street car. Thats why I want m6. With car prices the way they are now I'm thinking the vette would be cheaper than an m6 swap unless I can get a trade. But from what I hear the stock m6 doesnt hold that much power correct (Meaning I'd have to get someone to trade a stock a4 for a built one.)?

I think that a swap is a waste of time, money, and effort. These cars aren't exactly super rare. Just sell and find an M6 one.

I think some people get attached to their cars and might consider the swap just another modification. I do.
It's a modification that totally changes the driving characteristics of the car you may have already modified to your liking in other areas.

And it depends on the deals you can get on an M6, whether or not you can do the work yourself, etc.

Yeah I didn't consider the emotional side of it... pretty typical of me lol.
