Changing your oil at 3K is just wasting your money, synthetic or not. Of course Jiffylube will tell you 6 months or 3K. I ran my GC for 9K, had it analyzed by Blackstone and guess what, the TBN was still good. Get an oil analysis to see for yourself and check out bobistheoilguy.com for some good info on oil!

I had a tired old 4.3 Sonoma (RIP) that did great on dino oil, not using any oil until after about 3,200 miles. Beyond there the level would start going down gradually. Not a scientific way to tell but I always took that as a sign that it wanted an oil change. Prolly shoulda verified with oil analysis but I kinda assumed the additives keeping everything in balance were depleted enough to let it start using a bit.

well its not your car now is it also 6k on synthetic is not much. Its not like i take it to 6200 rpm daily. I always check it and if it starts to get dark I change it. Last time i changed it at 6k and it still looked good. Sometimes you guys act like these motors are 600 hp all out race cars that need some kind of special treatment. They actually have less stress on them then most of these 4 bangers that go many more miles, unless youre highly modded its ok to treat it like a damn car. (not saying to neglect it, but you dont have to act like its going to break if its not treated like a formula one car)

Yep. You have to ask yourself "who am I getting advice from?" If it is the guy selling you the oil, you need to think for a minute.
Now, out of 7 vehicles, we only have 2 that are running non-synth and I usually change them around 3K... but I check the condition first. The Synth oil vehicles go longer, but I check the oil several times, not just for the level but also to see how clean/dirty it is.
