stock hood is like 60lbs or so . a fiber glass hood is like 10 lbs.
i went from a stock z28 hood to a carbon fiber functional SS hood and lost almost .2 at the track from the wind resistance of the scoop

If you want to save weight and keep the aero of the Z hood.
Just get a fiberglass z hood.
VFN has one:
'98-2002 Stock flat Bolt On Hood. Price=399.00 Weight=18
And they happen to be a board sponsor>>>>>>>>>>

OEM is made out of SMC which is very similiar to fiberglass.
The hood struts are the same, I own an SS and a Z28.
In fact I tried a cheap fiberglass SS replica hood on my Z28, it was so thin the struts would bulge the top surface of the hood.
