Default Oil Change

I am ready for my first oil change in my Z28 and I have already bought Mobile 1 5W-30 and a Mobile 1 oil filter. I was reading some other threads and leaning towards another oil cause people say its not as good. Should I just use it now and next oil change something better or take it back and use something better now?

I use Mobil 1 and a Mobile 1 oil filter. Use it and if you feel that strongly about it, use something else later. It is a pretty good oil. I'm actually gonna switch to Penzoil Platinum cause I've heard lots of good things about it from people who actually know what they are talking about when it comes to oil.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic and a A/C Delco filter and I've never had problems with my cars. I notice a few people on here use German Castrol and Penzoil Platinum. I've heard some people say negative things about Mobil 1 because they haven't changed or improved their oil. Like I said before, I've never had problems with my 97', 01' and 02' Camaros and I don't baby my cars. It's whatever oil your car agrees with IMO. Just like my 02' didn't agree with Penzoil Platinum and supposedly that's a good oil.

Mobil 1 is a really good oil.I have always used it in my t/a and my friend uses it too. Some cars burn a little oil with Mobil 1,but that doesn't bother me.Use what you have and make up your mind later.

I agree that you should go ahead and use what you have now. I use Quaker State Horsepower, full synthetic, and my car loves it. I would suggest that oil to anyone, but that's just my opinion.

M1 changed their formula when Exxon bought them out and it is no longer made from from a true synthetic group IV base stock. It is also one of the thinner viscosity 30w oils. It is still fine to run but I think there are better options.

I really like the German Castrol and it is close to a 40w oil. Just expensive.

Penz Platinum got really good wear results on the bobistheoilguy site so if I can't find GC that is what I run. Cheap at wally world for a big jug.

I also like an AC/Delco filter.

I use Mobile1 M1-206 filter and Mobile1 10w-30 fully synthetic oil...Always have for 7 years.
I'm actually having some oil consumption problems, but I want to blame the engine instead of the oil.

QUESTION: I'd change oil with 6 quarts. After a couple months or so, the Low Oil light will come on. I add 1 more quart, and then when I see the Low Oil light again, I know it's time (about 2800 miles less than 3 months). Any idea what might be causing this? There aren't any visible leaks anywhere on the engine.

Use what you've got, and read up on oil while you're waiting for the next oil change.

There is nothing wrong with Mobil 1. I ran it in my old car and never had any engine problems. Use the Mobil and if you want for the next change go with a different brand.
