first time at the drag strip
It was really fun, although i couldn't get traction at all, i still need to learn a lot about drag racing, especially launching the car.
best run i had was 14.5 @103 with 2.5 60'
my car is stock, street tires with all tires @ 45psi, i think i need to reduce the air to 20-25psi, in order to get traction
here's a video of the run, i'm in the far lane, against a honda civic, even he beat me at launch although i got him back whenever i got traction
comments and suggestions are welcome, i can't wait to put in my pacesetter LT header and head back to the strip!

that's what i thought, my local strip is sux tho, it was 52 degrees last night, so it was really2 hard to get traction unless u got slick
i launched the car at 2k, but it'd spin thru first if i didn't feather the clutch sigh..

id run street tires at about 25 lbs, no less... and a small 3 second burn out... they dont need to be as hot as DRs or slicks.. that sixty foot might be the slowest i have ever seen from an ls1..

if your having traction issues that bad.. get an extra set of rims/tires instead of LT's so you can hook.

if you have the headers, throw them on.. along with a cutout (30 bucks).
remove your air filter when you race, but dont forget to put it back in...
take any weight out you dont mind, you can put it back in or leave it out, either one..
get a set of 16 rims.. (CHEAP!) like 50 bucks or something.. go out and buy some ET street or MT radials and mount them.. go to track, change tires.. run... change tires... go home..
thats what i do..

i have over 400 rwhp and tq...
cut 1.5s spinning a little last night... lifted the tires about 8 inches...
some ten bolts last, some dont.. simple as that..
i have a buddy that made over 200 passes on slicks and his 10 bolt... mods ranged from stock to ms4 cam only with a 200 shot..

dont rev the car up so much in your launch it might bog a lil bit but it will over all get you out of the hole a little better. along with what everyone else said about the tire pressure. just keep going back to the track more times you go the better you will get

well i said that because nick123 told me not to rev too high, imo 2k is not too high, i launched the car at 2k not over. i feathered the clutch but after the rpm reach 3k and more my tires would start spining
i'll get back to the track tomorrow, i've already got some tires, my friend offered me his pair of slicks but i have to pass this time, i don't want to break my rear end ... yet lol

go for it.. it should take a few passes.. if it breaks, it was gonna break anyways... a new rear is only like 250$..

to the OP, just keep practicing that launch, I launch at 1k and bog out the hole, but it nets me a better time. If you launch at 2k, you're going to have to slip the clutch, not dump it.

[QUOTE=jb7241986;11455155]**** if you ran a 14.5 time to sell and buy a neon[/QUOTE
nah, i love my camaro, and that was my first time at the drag strip ever with any car
$250 for a 10 bolts? 9" is around $2.5k right? i'll go to the strip this evening will post slip when i got home, i'll think about trying the slicks
that explains lol
thanks man, yea i need to practice more and more, i felt like a looser when (i said it before and i'll say it again) a mustang gt beat me in one of my run and he only made 14.4 @ 99 wtffffffffff
from 2k i dumped the clutch and maintain the gas so the tires wouldn't spin too much, maybe i should slip the clutch instead of dump it
