who to tune my car? (mailorder, dyno, etc?)
I have read so many threads with people complimenting or complaining about tunes.
Here is my car and mods:
98 camaro convertible
umi weld in subframe connectors
umi tunnel mount
six speed swap (original auto)
pro 5.0 shifter
stage 3 clutch
billet flywheel
emissions blocked off
grott 1 7/8th headers
slp dual duals
whisper lid
What tune would work best? I called around and dyno tunes are in the 600 dollar range, parking lot tunes (no actual driving ) are in th 2-400 dollar range. Hp tuners is a good bit more and requires a wideband.
I do not plan on modding the car anymore as I use this as a college commuter. I just want a good tune for what I have. It occasionally dies and revs up a little bit between shifts. I am kind of torn on what tune to get, because on one hand I want it done right , but I have to question if an 600 dollar tune is what I need.
What would you do if you had my car?
edit- I would also like to add that my car used to have a built auto with a stall. The guy had it tuned with hptuners so it still has that tune on it.

For max benefit dyno tune, but since you just have simple bolt ones I guess a mailorder tune would be alright. It's up to you, the best kind of tune is a dyno tune, we all know that. The price of a dyno tune might be 3-400 though whereas a mailorder would be like 100 so its up to you, it depends if you plan on caming the car later on and such.

If it was converted to a 6 speed and it has a auto tune loaded on it, it won't like it at all. For the mods you have listed, you could do a mail order tune on it and be just fine. If you plan on going with a cam, spray or boost, you will want a good shop to do the tune on it. Id also go over it and check for any air & exhaust leaks.

Alright thanks for all the advice. I just want to do it right. Some things I notice with the auto tune is it occasionally dies, and revs to 3 grand until it gets warm and sort of surges then it idles at 1k. It also holds revs higher between shifts.
Also no cam or nitrous in the future; This car has to last me till I graduate.
