there would be a loss of power and your o2s would not like it due to fresh air reaching the sensors causing the computer to think it needs more fuel making the car pop and get shitty gas mileage, also loss of back pressure.

+1 on everything every one has said, not to mention the manifolds dont come down far enough, you would burn the bottom of the car/any thing near the opening.

take your y-pipe off and tie up you single pipe going back to the muffler(take just the y-pipe off-that means leave the cats on), i ran mine like this for a while and picked up a little bit of power, loud but not too loud, to loud to run throught the city tho.

but if you are not looking to spend any money right now, i could definitely recommend taking off the stock catback and leaving the stock Y pipe in place, the cats will quiet it down enough to make it liveable, and you will see noticeable gains. i went from 13.5's @ 105 with the stock exhaust to 12.9's @ 108 with the catback removed and a lid added, and made 320 HP and 334 Tq the following day, untuned, with a ls1 intake....oh yeah, and 110,000 miles

yeah headers, x-pipe with bullets and turndowns would definately sound good. Mine is running through longtubes kooks y-pipe(dual cutouts) and got the stock cme on there so i can have it loud as it gets or as quiet as it gets when i want it. Puts a smile on my face opened or closed lol

Sorry, gotta raise the bullshit flag there. Anyone here can tell you there is NO way your gonna pich up 6/10s by removing the catback and installing a lid. Most likely was due to weather change or just better driving.
