Default cut it out!

im waiting on my kooks 1 7/8 w/ ory to arrive. in the mean time i have my magnaflow exhaust and my stainless steel cme w/ stainless steel 90 bends. can you say stainless!

my question is, is it worth spending the money? i know it sounds good and all but im more concerned about hp gains. would i gain any horsepower. i will be going with a procharger in the next year or so, so will it be more beneficial for a future procharged car? i plan on going with a used 3'' cut out in the i pipe if it increases horsepower. im not spending over $200;ill get one used off here.
any dyno graphs would be appreciated. thanx fellas.

a cutout will probably not gain you much hp when open since the magnaflow is a very good flowing muffler.

one thing though the magnaflow is somewhat quiet and a cut out will definetly make it louder so you can go from loud to stealth with the push of a button

I agree if you want a louder meaner souding car go with the cutout, because you will really not see any hp gains

I'm sure a cutout will give you some gains, but not huge. You'll have better luck asking this question in the External & Bolt on's section. The only reason I saw this was on the home page

Just some food for thought: My dual cutouts off the headers gained 7rwhp on my cammed car as opposed to going through the Magnaflow. It's not a lot, but it is something.

Your insane.. A cutout sounds ******* awesome and even BETTER on a cammed car. You obviously don't have one, so when you have one then give a opinion. Everyone I know with a cutout is in love with theirs, even if they were hesitant at first. This thread is a no brainer. GET A CUTOUT

^^^you sir dont know what good exhaust sounds like. cut-outs are hey look at me its loud as **** with absolutely no tone or quality of sound. one small bullet muffler or something similiar doesn't make it much quieter but helps it from sounding like that. i can tell you are about 20.

Well idk what mods you have but if your stock then you really shouldn't talk lol. You would need to be brain dead, cutouts open the pipe, its what the car is suppose to sound like with no restrictions through a Y pipe. So saying they sound bad is like saying a ls1 sounds bad with a straight Y or xpipe on.

just bc i dont state my mods in my sig doesnt mean i dont have any. This brings to mind a close buddy of mine who had a cut-out and swore it sounded like nascar. he loved it. i built a true dual system with turn-downs and after a while he said "you know, im pretty sick of this cut-out. i want my car to sound like yours. I want the deep aggressive tone." so he ordered up the x pipe kit and and i fabbed him up an exact copy of my exhaust. im not saying duals with bullets is the best sounding exhaust but its loud as hell and the tone is better then a cut-out. And i might add when my car is idling and loping, it sounds raw enough. a cut-out just sounds nasty and cheap.

here's my car with "no" mods, against a H/C car.

That does sound nice but mine sounds almost exactly the same with a cutout on the Y pipe. idk I always thought $200 vs $1000 for the same effect and power. Thats why I chose the cutout, you just can't go wrong with it.
