Default Need some advice

Im going to get rid of my old worn out LS1 in my 02 Camaro SS and i was wondering what type of engine should i go with?

A new LS1 maybe or LS2
or LS3 ???

And would i need a different type of tranny for the LS2 or LS3 model engines??

Thanks

It has alot of miles alot haha And its not as strong as it once was but runs good considering its lifetime..The reason i want a new engine is to start of fresh you know cam and head package etc..But i dont want to put money in a LS1 with 145K miles

LS1 stroker everything just bolts back on. That's what I will do when the time comes.

Watt's shop in Lewisville! Real Performance Motorsports uses him. He built my 396 and he is EXTREAMLY meticulous and highly reccomended. But for the cost, unless you just want forged internals with stock cubes then I would get a LS3 crate with a hot cam. Dead on reliability and amazing torque. Then sell all of the parts you don't need to offset some of the cost. If I had it to do over again I would have atleast gone with a block with a 4" bore. there are just a tone more head choices out there. Plus going from a LS6 block to a LS3 block with my internals would have bumped me up to 427ci instead of 396. I wish that block had been out at that time. All it would have cost me would have been $1300 more.

for the cost of an ls3 crate motor in your car you could build your ls1 to out perform it and still be reliable, but at the same time you could take the ls3 farther later where your limited with the ls1, im finishing up my 383 ls1 build now, and expecting in the area of 500whp all motor and a heavy dose of nitrous after that, doing all the work myself other than the machine work ill have between 7 an 8 grand in the build, including all the supporting bolt ons, the tune. etc. depending on what you can do yourself and what prices you can get on parts you could do it cheaper than that,

There is a guy selling a brand new 2010 ls3 pretty much complete for 5k in the classified. All it would take is a cam and porting the heads and he would have over 500rwhp in a m6. I say buy a new motor and build up when money permits.
