Default Noob queston on long tubes

Hey guys. I have had third gens my whole life and they have always called for shorties. Now I am looking into long tubes for my ls1. My question is are all long tubes able to open and close? I saw one guy around town who hit a button in this car and they would open and close. thanks in advance

Long tubes don't open and close they are just long primary tubes. He probly had a cut out in the exhaust you can open and close to bypass the muffler.

Have to buy a differant Y pipe the stocker wont work, If you don't need emissions get a off road Y pipe if you do you'll need a cated Y pipe. Also spend the $100 more and get the coated pacesetters, unless you like the look of rust.

Do you need to keep the emissions equipment?

Depends on the exhaust system you have, and other big mods. some gain 10hp some may see 20(+-) depending on cubic inches, heads/cam.

Look towards the end, should help to get max power while staying legal.

Good luck!
