Default Went and looked at a 02 SS for sale

Hey everyone. New guy here. Well I went and looked at a 02 camaro ss tonight. Thought it was going to be my dream car. Well I walked away. I have a few questions because I think the car has been hit and worked on. First off, should there ever be over spray in the wheel well on the sound dampner stone gaurd undercoating stuff. It's near the bottom on the front side of the rear well. Also, in that same well, the tire has rubbed on the undercoating stuff. Small spot, but wore it down to the bare metal. Can that ever happen in a very hard turn or something. I would think not.
Then in the B pillar I could see some imperfections. The owner said he has seen it in other cars. Looked like a possible weld job but then again it could of just been a run from the factory, or factory weld. I haven't looked at enough of them I guess that close. Now the final ? Underside of the doors. Does that paint normally scratch very easily? These doors had mutiple scratches under there. But yet the sills were perfect. When I took my nail to one of the scratches to see if it was something else, I scratched the paint. So what does everyone think. I guess my next step is a carfax. Or I'm hoping you guys in here can help. Thanks

Its an amazing looking car... thats color on an SS is also my dream car.

Try to get some detailed pictures of what you are talking about. It would be a shame to pass up a car like that if they are legit things.

Mine had bumped something not bad, but they replaced the nose. It doesnt appear the bags have been deployed. The core support from what I can see looks straight. I went and looked at a red SS and it had been hit hard enough to deploy the bags. It didnt bend anything and the core support looked fine. He was up front and told me. I walked away because I really didnt want a wrecked car. Even though it had been fixed perfectly. There should not be over spray in the wheel wells. Are you sure the car didnt have hail damage at some point and they just repainted the whole truck? My dads 00 silverado got hailed on and the dealership put a brand new GM hood on it and repainted the whole truck. You really should just ask the guy. Its good that you are heads up on stuff like that though. Its been repainted at some point. For what ever reason you need to find it out. I am going to have to get my car fixed, in two days of owning it I got backed into in a parking lot. The car drove away and I didnt know who did it. Then I got rear ended and its scratched the back bumper. I was able to get enough money out of the rear end wreck to repaint the whole car and fix the dent in the side. Stuff happens. GL with the car and get us some pics up soon of what you are conserned about.

That is my car almost. I'm a SOM 01 M6 Hurst leather and T-tops.
It looks clean and unmolested. You better give it a second look and ask questions. Have you gotten the carfax?
Between 01 and 02 less then 600 SS's were SOM!
I know that I am bias to these, but, that car deserves another look.

I bought mine new and wouldn't sell it for the world.

Just from the pics you posted, that looks to be a very nice car. I am not really one of those big SOM fans but I do like that one. Whats the asking price?

Thanks guys! I really love the car. I'm still working on the carfax. I told the owner flat out that I was ready to make a deal but there are a couple things that bother me. I asked if he had a carfax done and he said no. I told him how picky I am and how even body shop guys could not believe the eye I have. I said, I don't want to point out the stuff at this point because I know how it is once people point out stuff and then you see it too. It's a clean car and I firmly believe this guy being the supposed 2nd owner has no idea "if" it is wrecked. I'll just have to get the car fax and go from there. So have any of you seen any of the stuff I saw on this car?

He'll let me carfax. I just need to do it. He gave me the VIN.
He's asking 16,500
I thought originally if I could get it for 15K it would be a great deal.
What do you think?
So no input on the underside of the doors scratching so easily?

how many miles? maybe a rock or something was on the rocker when the door was closed and thats why its scratched. the doors are fiberglass. then when it was painted the door jam was painted too thats why theres no scratches there.

Carfax came back clean. Does anyone know what it means when it says Service Contract issued?

Yeah, he really wasn't sure if he was the second. He just said as far as he knew he was.

So does anyone else have any input for me on this car. Thoughts?

Check it over real good. Put it on a lift if you can. Carfax/Autocheck never gets everything reported. I can tell you that first hand!
