Default So when you delete...

So the question goes... if you make modifications to your car (02 z28 btw) such as removing the air pump you will get a check engine light. Now when you have that tuned out of the computer how does that affect the monitor status? In other words if i had all emissions related codes turned off what will my scanner say as to the readiness of these devices. Car will not pass inspection right now. Thanks Chris

When you delete those systems you can use hp tuner and turn off the dtc's so no check engine light and it wont send a code either.

Thanks for the reply but what does it do to the monitors? Does it make them all ready? This is a NY state inspection criteria. I am allowed only one monitor to not be set. Right now i have 4 that arent set. Chris

I'm not sure if it will say ready. On my hp tuner you select do not report dtc, so it wont throw or store codes. So a scaner wont read any dtc's but I don't know if it will pick up on the fact that the part is gone or have no voltage.

How long ago did you tune them out? I tuned out quite a few things (air pump and rear O2's included) and had to drive the car a little bit, maybe 100 miles for the car to reset its readiness codes.

I have the SES light for the same reason. Without getting the HP tuner, any ideas how to get rid of the code? I don't want to get the tuner just to delete one code. I've been having garages clear it for free but after about the 10th time it gets annoying. I've been able to figure out in those 10 times that if I let the car warm up a little longer the light stays off longer, sometimes 100 miles, sometimes 300 miles, but it always comes back sometime.

in the subaru community we have tuning software similar to hptuner or ls1edit. To bypass the READY/NOT READY/CEL we expand the range it reads to call it good. Not sure if that helps but its something.

not sure if this will help but if its the rear o2 codes you can keep them from popping up along with the ses light if you reset it and then keep the car under about 45mph...that way you can pass inspection
