Default What gears and stall to get?

I just bought a 99 trans am and am about to order some gears and a stall. It has a fast intake and throttle body, ported maf, longtubes, true duals, tsp ms3 cam 237/242 .603/.609, 275/60/15 drag radials. Car is an a4 and has 3.23 gears right now. I was thinking a 3000 stall and 3.73's but Im kinda new to the LSx thing. What do yall think would be the best setup for me? Car is just a "whenever im in town" toy not a dd or anything. Also does anyone know any Good shops to get it tuned?

Camming it before a stall is not a good idea.

With a cam that size, a 4000 stall is in order.
3.42's or 3.73's would be what id drop in.

4.10s or 3.73s with a 3600 stall at least. the car will roll out but i would also look into builind the tranny because its only gonna last so long depending how you drive it.

if you're camming an engine just because, but not necessarily because you're going to be taking it to the track or pushing it. just for tooling around town, and just knowing that you have it.. would you still want to stall it?

Good advice in this thread. I say 3.73s and a SS4000.

Well the real question is What kind of stall is installed in your car now? It can't be stock with a MS3 cam in there or it would be undrivable to say the least. How high can you brake stall to? If you have a Vigalante, Yank or any top brand convertor in there now you can get it restalled alot cheaper than buying a new one. 3.73 for the gear ratio. 4000-4200 for the convertor if you plan to keep the car N/A. 3200-3400 if you plan on running giggle gas.

Thats what I'd got with, given the mods and cam size. Hell I might even go with that combo with the stock cam until I can throw a better bumpstick in.

you have stock trans, watch what you doing. I think you should rebuild ur trans first and pick what kind stall u want to put in,that way safe for u and labor.
