I blew a ring and now I have to rebuild. The motor is mainly stock and I was looking at thunder racing at rotating assemblies and they have 427 rotating assemblies. What do I have to do to have that in the motor or what should I do. My goal is 500 to wheels. Please Help.

You would need to resleeve your stock block which is pretty expensive if done right but you could save the money you would use to reselve your stock block and do a 383 ls1 with some good heads like afr or trick flow then add a cam and intake to match plus all the supporting mods and you could hit 500rwhp. Or you could build a 408!

IF your looking for bigger cube. PM Mikey @ Rapidmotorsports as he make killer N/A set ups that last and you can use your block as the required CORE>

It all depends on what you want to do and how much money you want to spend. You can stroke a LS1/LS6 block (3.900" bore) to 383cui motors. Other blocks can be made into different sizes. . . 4.000" aluminum blocks can be made into 402's, while the cast iron ones can be made into 408's (they can be bored to 4.030" bores), then there's the new 6.2L blocks that are being stroked into 413cui and what not. You can always do an LS7 block to get you a 427cui or even bigger. Now changing the block is going to cost about $800 to $1000 more for a new one from GM, so by staying the LS1 route, you'll save some money there. Also when going to a Gen IV block you'll need to change you're timing cover, and valley cover, as well as get a wiring harness adapter for the differnet locations of the cam position sensor and knock sensors.

If your looking for 500whp, then I am going to say scrap the old block and move to a 408 Iron Block. The unfortunate thing that you will have to look at also moving to something like that is swapping up some stuff. You can always just forge the stock motor and call it a day, and get away without having to buy to much stuff for the bigger motor. if you move to a 427, you will need new everything (heads, cam, injectors, fuel pump, intake, clutch/stall, rear, etc..). The bill adds up pretty quickly when going to a bigger cube motor. With what it costs to resleeve a LS1 to make it a 427, you can have an LS7 shortblock made that is stronger than that LS1 will ever be.

Have you considered forging your existing engine and adding a Pro-Charger kit? With a forged short block, you should be able to get 500 to the wheels and most everything else will still fit.
Don't forget you will need to upgrade an auto, do a clutch with 6 speed, replace rear and more to support 500 at the wheels. Don't forget the brakes either.

I'm doing the ls6 stroked to a 427, the engine will already be out anyways do getting it freshned up and resleeved wont be that much out of the way.
Doing a 427 ls6 with a z06 cam. 102 intake and t/b not sure on heads
but were gonna hope for 550 at the wheels tuned for 93 and mixed.

I would ask what are your exact goals, you can do 500 rwhp with a stroked stock block and good heads but it is going to be on the upper edge of the build. Going with more cubes allows you to run a milder cam so you wouldn't need to worry about your springs and revving to the moon to generate hp.
