If it's a real SS, it's already functional. It's really not the best design for flow, and it offers no real gains over a Z28 hood.

theres an ss in town here where i live for sale and it has a functional ram air hood, i dont know where it came from but it looks like a kit it has like a molded plastic piece that connects under the hood that channels the air to the front where when closed seals up against a k&n filter in a special piece connected to the throttle body where the lid would be, it is a fully functional ram air, so i know they sell em somewhere, ive looked at it a few times cause i was thinkin of buyin the car just not sure cause they want 7950 and its got 133k on it

it sure is functional, but i think there is a mod where people either cap off the hood and get a better bottom induction peice or cap off the bottom and open up the hood baffels. im not sure if it can be done with the ss hood but the Ws6 one fore sure

That's not a factory SS hood, unless it's a '96-'97 car you're looking at. They changed the design for '98+ cars.

There are several aftermarket hood manufacturers, at least one uses that style.

yeah your right i looked it up online, and it was a 98 ss but you have to buy the ram air kit and the hood, it looks just like the ss hood but by the time your done with it and have it painted and installed youd have over a well over a grand to have the functional ram air, theres no way id pay for that
