stall convertors
I was told by the transmission shop that if they installed a stall convertor (I was considering a 3200) that it would set off the check engine lites and won't pass a N.C. inspection. Fact or fiction?

It sound slike the guy doesn't want to do the job, and is blowing smoke. I would take your ride somewhere else, where it could be appreciated.

The only cars having SES lights with converters are usually the 01-02's. I have a 02 and ran a 3600 with no problems. I have a 4600 now and do have a slight problem with code P0757 but its normal and just needs to be removed via Edit. You won't have a single problem with your 98. The guy is talking out his ***.

I don't think its a TM issue. If you run a search on P0757 you'll find more information about it. The code is set under certain conditions. One way to avoid it is drive in D while under 50MPH and then goto OD after 50 MPH. So far this has cured my problem till I can get my tune done.

I really think it is necessary for all 01-02 F-Bodys to delete TM after installing a higher stall converter, isnt the P0757 a result of the slippage of the converter.

As far as my 4600 and TM, i surprisingly don't have too many problems with TM. I can def. feel it on shifts though.
