underhood clean up
just bought a 2001 camaro ss and couldnt be happier. ive had it a week and already want to modify it. it already has a slp catback and intake. I want to start with the smallest mods first and build from there. whatever will be cheap to upgrade (short on money now that i bought the car) or will clean up the engine bay is where id like to start. ive already looked into little mods such as the throttle body coolant bypass, and under way of getting the piping. Any suggestions on what i should would be greatly appreciated. thanks

alot of people delete AIR. if u wanna get more aggressive in underhood cleanup, check out the weight reduction list sticky in the drag racing forum and shoot me a PM if u need writeups on things u would like to remove

AIR is easy to remove, just unbolt all associated AIR 'crap' and install blockoff plates on the exhaust manifolds. texasautocraft.com and speedinc sell blockoff plates for AIR
A/C is easy to remove also. just unbolt the compressor, remove the a/c idler, tensioner/bracket assembly, remove the air intake lid to remove the condensor...etc. u get the idea im sure
AIR injection. its emissions related. you will see AIR tubes to each exhaust manifold with rubber hoses running off of the tubes to the AIR pump on the driverside next to the cruise module

go big first if its an auto get a stall..... if its a 6 speed get a set of headers.. they seem to be the best pick up for the buck.. keep the hood closed dont worry about under the hood... secrets of running on the streets haha

If you're going for that super clean under the hood look, check into relocating the pcm. I've read threads on it and seen pictures. It's a lot of work it looks like but it does give a cleaner look under the hood. And if you are removing the a/c it should be a lot easier.

something that really cleaned up my engine bay was to pull the coil packs off and replace the ugly bolts with some stainless hex or button head bolts.
also you can clip off some of the "retainer pins" for the various electrical connections. some of those get pretty ugly.
doesn't hurt to pull the valve covers and paint them....
here is a post i did with some pics

i wasn't worried about having problems, just an engine light coming up for emissions... whats the easiest way to clear them without a tuner?

Otherwise, black tape works wonders!
