Ls vs lt dilema
Ok heres my dalema. I have a ls1 ta with 129 on the clock buy still runs strong. A 94 camaro lt1 has come to my attention. Don't know much about the car but it's got 30 000 on the clock he is selling it very very very cheap. I Won't say how much but for fun we'll say less the 5000. A dad got his hands on it cuz his son past away a couple months ago and he just wants it gone. I don't know weather or not to buy it if it's worth it's salt. But say I do what kinda of power lose am I gonna see going from a ls to a lt. Thanks guys

I wouldn't do it. Definite downgrade. I'd buy it as a second car, but I wouldn't dump a ls for a lt. That and I don't think I could buy a car that had belonged to a guy that passed away.

LS1 - 340 to 350 BHP stock. LT1 - 275 to 285 BHP stock. The LT1 has nice low end torque though. I personally would stick with the LS1. I'm pretty sure almost everyone else on here will tell you to stick with your LS1 T/A being that this is LS1Tech.

Not only would you greatly decrease the appearance but you would also lose power/tq along with the awesome modability.
I would not do it. If it is going to stay stock or maybe just exhaust/intake/tune and be a weekend car that you will just cruise in, then yes go for it. If you care about racing and ET, stick with the ls1.

Don't let the higher mileage in your LS think you need to go for a car with fewer miles like the LT car; even with only 34K on the LT it's going to need work at this point-it won't be like "buying a new car" and I can guarantee that you'll have to wrench on that LT in no time.
Now I have both engines and they're both stock and as such, the LT is much more fun to drive around town because of the torque down-low as well as one of the greatest stock exhaust tones EVER made-better than the LS for sure, but other than that as everyone here has said switching from the LS to the LT is a downgrade.
Someone made a comment about the looks? I like both LS and LT versions but if I had to choose one I'd go with the retro-ish front end of the LS any day...

My biggest concern is that my cars has so many damn miles on it and then there's this lt for really cheap which is a new born compared to my car. Like I said I know nothing more about the car. I may decide to buy it and flip it for a major profit. Maybe I'm just paranoid about the miles, I dunno

You're not going to make much money flipping an LT1 car...maybe parting it out.
130K on your car is no big deal. The 98+ cars have a lot of plusses (better stock brakes, seemingly better build quality, nicer dash/interiors), I prefer how the 98+ cars look too...and having owned many many LT1's...I will say, dealing with BS on LT1 engines sucks. Optisparks blow (especially 94 and older non-vented ones), exhaust manifold/header bolt issues blow, the waterpumps blow, they're not as smooth (the firing order changed smoothed out the LS1)...I'm not saying they're horrible cars, but I wouldn't bother with it unless your LS1 TA is beat to hell...my LS1 Z28 has 187K miles on it, and while I'm not easy on it...I've always maintained it, and it's in better shape than some 30-40K mile cars I've seen...you're taking a big gamble giving up a car you know, for a car you don't know solely based on a number on an odometer...the odometer is THE LAST thing I care about when I look at a car for sale...I care far far more about the cars actual condition than that number.
