Default Drove in the rain SES light came on

So as the title says I was driving in the rain when my service engine soon light came on. Car doesn't feel any different. Any thoughts or speculations as to what it could be? I do have the free ram air mod but I severely doubt water got on my MAF sensor. So looks like a trip to autozone for me

Usually those lights are accurate. I would definitely go get it serviced just in case. I would hate for something to happen because you did not get it looked at. From experience, it is better to be safe than sorry.

I'm running up to autozone in a minute actually so I'll post the code in a bit.

Code is PO420.

Catalyst efficiency low-bank 1

Could either be:

The 02 sensors monitor the catalytic converters ability to store oxygen.
Probable cause
1. Catalytic converter defective (failure possibly due to # 2, 3, or 4)
2. Engine misfire or running condition
3. Large vacuum leak
4. Engine oil leakage into exhaust-valve guide seals, piston rings.

So, looks like some 02 sensors. I was planning on getting headers soon anyway and tuning it out, but my question for now is, how bad is this gunna screw up my gas mileage until I'm able to switch it out or get the new headers and is there anything else I should worry about?

Doesn't sound like a bad O2 sensor to me. Sounds like a bat cat (assuming that was the only code).

The effect on MPG will depend on how/why the cat is failing.

Well, above is just what the guy printed off. He figured 02 sensor as well. Any way I could check one vs the other? Or should I just turn the car to the on position and pull out the two fuses and reset the SES light that way and see if it comes back?

not to thread jack or anything but recently i did a header swap and everything was fine until it rained and i hit a pretty nasty puddle and it didnt want to pull it self hardly. i ran it a bit and it drives fine but has a very random mis fire.

like the major time you feel it is when i pull away from a stop it will kinda stutter and then pull away or in overdrive under acceleration it might mis a couple times but thats kinda rare. but its not a constant mis its just is fairly random.

any ideas on what it could be? we pulled my back 02's off and extended the front ones ourselves if that helps. id really like some info kuz its freakin me out a bit lol

It will prolly go out after the rear o2 drys out. Give it a day or two and several drive cycles....

I did the SES reset thing from installuniversity and it disappeared. Ran it pretty hard and still all is well.

But, when I started the car it idled at like 400 until I revved it a couple times. Went for the quick run and it idles fine now :-)
