Not too many real mistakes thanks to researching this site first but I ported my stock MAF then had to get another one when I got a tune since it doesnt keep a constant A/F ratio with a ported MAF. And trying to knife edge the throttle body and causing a high idle but I just put a piece of tape over the hole and it is back to normal.

Ha I almost did that when my dad was going to give me his old 95 V6. Good thing I waited and just bought a V8, still cost less and nets more in the long run.

A POS HyperTech that toasted my PCM, since it took for ever to over write, then my battery died.

Spray painting my calipers with silver VHT.

Still having stock shocks, my car rides like a chariot.

Buying Pacesetter headers when I should have saved up for some Stainless Kooks or something else. I have the pacesetters and don't even drive my car in the winter and they are still all rusted.

buy a used catback system; check the classfieds on the board. GMMG and Corsa are the best systems you can get, but it will cost you $1000+ new or $350+ used. other popular systems are borla, hooker, and tsp true duals. check out http://ls1sounds.com/

Haha! My worst would definitely have to be dumping $15,000 into a 2000 v6 Firebird and ending up getting an ls6 camaro and it still being faster. Seriously?
I've had a couple ups and downs so far with the ls6 partly because of the cost of things and the fact that a few of the things I've fixed keep going wrong but other than that I'm definitely glad i found this site!

Really? I can deal with rust! I bought pacesetter over Kooks, QTP and the like because I can deff find better places to spend the $600+ that I saved.

got a quick question: when people are talking about porting the stock MAF, are they referring to the actual MAF or the two metal pieces that bolt to it? i started to port the metal pieces a long time ago, but never finished .

biggest mistake i made was starting off with stock exhaust and 80 series flowmaster, then installing headers only to run them open for a few weeks. got the tsp ory that came with the headers (both used) finally fitted again with said muffler. right before i came home from deployment, i found a set of dynomax bullets F/S really cheap. got home, shop in okc totally fucked up what you'd call an h-pipe. had to get that redone up here in CA and it is finally setup how i want.

so all the changes i have made to my exhaust, i could have bought like 2 sets of TSP duals by now.
