Default head cam install and or tune price check

checkin out speed shops and all, and my local mech shop that i usually go to for cam/head install and seein who alls charging what and didnt have much to base it off of, so whats a decent price labor wise for getting a cam and heads put on a 00 T/A? guy said $1k or more probably to do it at my local shop, going to the speed shop later today and checkin there, is that seem steep? i only paid the same guy $250 to do head gaskets on my 350 and its roughly the same process no? i know diff engine and all but, and how much should a decent dyno tune run me like $300 ish? and might i get it cheaper if i get it all installed and dynoed at the same shop?

We charge right at $1400 to swap the heads, cam, timing chain, and oil pump on an f-body car. Out dyno tunes come in at $400, so it would seem that the prices you have there are pretty decent.

Shawn, Ed and Va. Speed have a rep as one of the top LSX shops in the country. That's who I would go with if I were you. I narrowed my choice down to build my SB to them and HKE.

Price seems pretty good to me. I paid $800 for a head install and $400 for the tune. I don't know why they have to put in a new Oil pump. My stocker is holding around 50 with all my mod's! Hell I see alot of after market show alot worse then that!
