Default LS6 intake?

Ok on my 2000 TA i am starting mods, just exhaust (headers back) and lid for now. Next couple months will be heads and cam. Do i need to go ahead and upgrade intake from ls1 to ls6 now or just wait until heads then get intake and have a custom grind cam to match? Thanks

If you're going to do heads and cam I would suggest getting an aftermarket intake. The LS6 flows just a little faster then the LS1 intake. Bigger heads should get a bigger intake, and they're are plenty of aftermarket options out there.

If you are going to a mild H/C combo, the LS6 will be fine for you.

For the money, it's hard to beat an ls6 intake.

stock its worth abt 15whp over an ls1 intake once you start getting into a cam and heads the gain become bigger a fast intake will be even better but will be 3 times the price

$300 for a used ls6,$650-700 for a fast 90/92mm.the more engine modes ,the more power from a intake swap.do a dyno or mail order tune when you get every thing done ,so you only pay for 1 tune.

Like i said to begin with this is my first ls1 or even gm product i have owned. I dont know to much about the "fast" intake or even if that is a brand name. I have been building stangs my whole life. i will have afr heads and prob a custom grind cam my budget is around $4500 for h/c/i thats why im trying to figure out what intakes are good for this h/c setup. I know a ls6 flows better than an ls1 and will give me some hp but is it going to be what i need to support the h/c that im going with? Thanks

For a AFR headed car a FAST would be the best route (approx 800-1000 used with TB). The reason most of us keep resorting to the ls6 is for 350 bucks and you can reuse yout stock TB it is very hard to beat. On a h/c/i stock cube ls1 a ls6 will be fine. I am a nitrous car, times in my sig, running an ls6. MightyMouse which runs an ls6 intake and a turbo goes high 8s, Talley Trans with a turbo and ls6 goes 10.5 etc... FAST is the best, however the ls6 will hold it's on for years to come. It is on my list of mods to get, just not that high on the list.

go LS6....can't beat it for the price...that is unless you can find a cheap used Fast unit.
