Default throttle bodies

So i've got a couple questions about what to go with.

- stock size is 75.. i would assume to go bigger, but why do some guys drop down to a 52 mm?

- with a stock ls1 intake, and a volant CAI what size throttle bodies will fit? doi need any adapter plates to make them fit if i go above a certain size? also if i upgrade to an ls6 intake or fast.. then what throttle bodies will work

anything you recommend is helpful too!

Nobody uses a 52mm throttle body on an LS1. Maybe on an LT1?
A CAI has nothing to do with throttle body size. The same size throttle bodies came on every LS1 f-body regardless of whether it had a LS1 intake or LS6. A FAST will require a new throttle body. There's really no point of changing the throttle body unless you upgrade to a larger intake. Just port the stock one.

ah okay thanks, i guess the last 2 questions im wondering than is if i do buy a bigger one say 85 before i upgrade my intake, will it still bolt up to the intake?and will it also stillfit into my volant connection? do i need a new bellow from the CAI to the throttle body itself to compensate for the bigger diameter throttle body?

also, i know one company not sure if they are sponsored here portsthe stock for 75 bucks to i think 78mm.. is that really going to make much of a difference?

85 will bolt right up but save your money and just get a ported stock(same gains), or port your own. You'll notice some nice throttle responce and somewhere around 7 hp gain..90mm or above tb's are usually the 4 bolt patterns(yours is 3)......theres several vendors and members that do it here cheap if you dont feel up to it, or you can find used for 50-75 bucks.

so which engine/intake is the 4 bolt TB's for? and also just a port/bump stop is as good as purchasing an 85? it'll def save money but don't want to skimp out unless it really is almost as good

There is really nothing to port on a stock LS1/6 intake. Get your TB ported and you will feel better throttle response but the HP gain is minimal....

LS2 is a 4 bolt...You wont be skimping a 200 plus dollar 80-85mm tb will give you no more power then a 50 dollar ported stocker

Ls1s don't respond much from a larger tb, especially with stock intakes because of their design.. Tony preaches this regularly. Port bump stop etc the stock one and go with it.. Upgrade to a 90 or 92 when you buy a fast.

I believe the lt1s respond decent, I know that is a very common first mod in the Lt1 world.

I bought fast 102mm intake, and fast 92mm throttle body. On my 99ss I have a slp lid, will the rubber bellow fit the 92mm throttle body?

Are you talking the stock accordion style bellow?

It will take a few swear words and about five minutes but it will work. After you put it on the first time drive the car until operating temp for about ten mins, then let it cool completely.. After that it should be much easier to get on and off.

There is a company that makes pieces that work perfectly as bellows. They are rubber, can be colored, etc.. All different sizes and turns. Can't recall the name, search a little.

Not the stock bellow but the bellow from the SLP lid. I dont know if your fimiliar with it, I was just trying to mitigate any issue before the install.
