what are you trying to do to the car? if you're looking to make it a monster, i would take an f body (not a firehawk or ws6) and tear it apart! lol, my SS I have such a hard time wanting to change it just because of what it is. If you're planning to leave it stock and cruise around I would go for the ws6 since they look amazing stock. The c5 with a few appearance mods is a sick looking car just looks at desertls1's corvette. that thing looks great with the CCW rims. But if you're trying to go in a straight line extremely fast and run tubs etc etc. definitely go with the f-body whether it be a camaro or TA. Also there is a 1998 camaro on ebay right now where the guy claims its down to 2400 pounds. don't rip me apart ls1tech, but thats a 1000 pounds lighter than stock...something to think about as well

As for a C5, it's a totally different car with different strengths and weaknesses, so you'll first have to decide what your priorities are, and what you're willing to pay for vs. what you need and want. There is also the matter of appearance, which again is subjective. Many people love C5s, but some don't.

I don't think carbon fiber was used on Corvettes until the C6's. But the C5's were basically 100% fiberglass.
And to the OP although there lighter there really not that much lighter. If I remember right corvettes weight around 3200 and most F bodies weight between 3400-3600.

Weight reduction is really simple, just start ripping out what you deem not necessary. To some, A/C and heat can go, bumper supports, lightweight carpet or just take it all out, etc. ****, my friend dropped like 30lbs going from his stock converter to the Yank he put in. You should be able to get your car down to 3200lbs without you in it very easily, mostly just taking **** out.

One is a 2 seater sports car, the other two are different trim levels of a 4 seater muscle car, take your pick. Two completely different types of cars, only thing they have in common is the powertrain.

Well, it depends on the type of performance you are referring to (meaning overall, straight line, etc.), and what you consider a "bolt on". An LS1 F-body with what are universally accepted as bolt-ons (intake, headers, full exhaust, lid, tune, etc.), plus a 3500+ stall torque converter (some people would call this a bolt on, because it's not internal to the engine) should be a tough match for a stock C5 Z06 in a quarter mile run. Many stalled/bolt-on LS1 A4 cars have been in the 11s with stock internals, and that's a tough challenge for a stock C5 Z06.
