whats it take to lift them stubborn front wheels?
I want to try to keep this fairly simple but what does it take to get a few inches off the ground? it there like a standard example: about 420hp, 390tq, sticky tires and 4k rpm launch? im just giving an example i have no clue. This is all assuming a person has not spent $4k lightening the front of his/her car with all the aftermarket goodies!

I have an A4, but mine lifts them about an inch and I only put down around 350rwhp. The key is weight transfer. You can do it with a small amount of power if you can transfer weight real well.

Ive seen a lid/catback 2001 formula with 255/50 DRs, QA1s, 3.73s and a 4k stall do it. Also seen my friends lid, catback, milled stock heads and 228r camaro do it with a 3600 stall and DRs

so is the rear shocks/suspension more important that the front? if say someone could only afford to do one at a time? I have heard some old time racers claim that the front shocks/springs/whatever is more important than the rear....

Double adjustable AFCO's are the only way to go if you are concerned about on-track performance. Strange shocks are a good value shock if you are on a budget. I would also recommend LCA's, a drag sway bar and an adjustable torque arm. THe most important thing is still the tires though. If you can get it to hook and transfer weight, the wheels will come up!

Konis are a handling shock and do not help weight transfer (just the opposite actually). That being said you can still pull the wheels with them, but they are not a dedicated drag shock like QA1, Afco or Strange which should all transfer more weight (but also drive, handle and ride like *** compared to Konis).
