Yours is the first Camaro panel that I've ever heard of cracking (visably). Most of the section that cracks on the Pontiacs is covered by cloth or vinyl on the Camaros, leaving only that last little bit of exposed plastic on the far forward end by the door mirror. Is that where yours cracked? None of my 3 Camaros ever did that.

It was about 3-4 inches in front of the vinyl section, and the other was discolored in about that same place on the other side.

Personal preference...I've never liked them, but there are others that do. At the end of the day, you are the only one that has to be happy with it.

The people that claim that are probably referencing the location of the air scoop on that hood - it would give the air a straight shot at the lower air box, which is one of two ways air can enter on f-bodies (the other is from underneath, which is where the vast majority of the intake air comes from).

It might be worth a couple HP if they went through the effort of sealing the lower air box to the hood, but I'd rather spend my time and money going after bigger gains with headers, a cam, etc., granted, those require money and a little more effort than just slapping on a hood and piling on the weather stripping.
