Finally got one!
I know this is a repetative question for noob's, however I have to ask. I just picked up a 2004 Pontiac GTO. 41,000 mi, 6spd transmission. It is all stock. Immaculate condition. My question is since I want to mod the car, should I keep the LS1 and do the H/C/I, forced induction, or go the LQ9 route and start there? It's gonna be pricey no matter which way I go, but I want suggestions, opinions, etc. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the advice. As far as HP goals, as much as reliably possible on the stock bottom end. I want it still decent to drive. I would like to have a low 12, high 11 sec goat, so I can hang with or beat my friends 03 cobra, and my cousins 10 gt500. The 2 things I have over them is, I can out drive them, and I own an ls motored car.

It all depends on how deep your pockets are...41k is light mileage. You could run heads/cam,if you want to supercharge and plan on running anymore then 8 pds then you might wanna look into one of the iron LQ blocks and or forged internals...You could also build a budget stroker w/ the LQ block....and if your planning on hanging w/ a modded Termi or GT500 (especially on the street) most H/C/I setups aren't going to cut the mustard.

Depends on your budget. If it were me and money weren't to big of a concern, id go lq9 with forged internals and a turbo/supercharger. They can be had pretty cheap and you don't have to worry about warping(even though its not much of a concern until you hit 800 or so hp). Or you can get the ls1 with some forged pistons/rods and throw a power adder on and be set. Its kinda of a either/or situation. Both routes are stout and have proven time and time again.
If you don't stay n/a id at least go with some good internals so you don't have to worry about it when you crank the boost up

Congrats on picking up the goat OP if I were you I'd go with H/C/I with 9" rear end, twin disc clutch and top notch suspension setup and throw 200 shots on top of it that should take care of those pesky cobras and GT500. Boost can get really pricey.
