the main time a 10 bolt will break is in a 6 speed car and you are dumping the clutch or shift hard on the 1-2...
Wheel hop is your enemy, even if you lauch soft and begin to get wheel hop here is another area it could break.
IMO, first mod for any 6 spped car should be a 9in rear...between the money you spent on that cam, headers, ls6. you could have had a 9in with 3.90's or any gear of your choice.
If you are able to get a 9in before the 10 bolt blows you might be able to sell it to another person, alot of auto guys seek the 6 speed 10 bolts for their 3.42 gears and just for a cheap/easy swap, or another 6 speed owner who blew his...
Do the smart thimg and get a 9in, be done with stress...LOL, and get some money back by selling the 10 bolt instead of having scrap metal laying around

I think it will be alright, just take it kind of easy off the line. As long as you don't hammer on it off the line pass after pass, it probably won't end up breaking.

154K miles on my stock 10 bolt and I've beaten the **** out of it on drag radials before the cam. Eliminate wheel hop and for the most part you'll be fine. Lower control arms + relocation brackets ftw! will be putting in a 4.10 geared 10 bolt this weekend that was cutting 1.6 60fts in another 6 speed. will keep stock on as backup since it's never failed me.

Ive been taking mine to the track. I have a best of 8.3@89 because I cant launch it. My cam/sticky tires are useless without a stronger rear. If I launch @ 3k I get wheel hop. If I slip the clutch I leave alot of clutch on the track. Im pretty sure for us M6 cars the only answer is a 9". I was getting my *** busted by a mach1 that was launching @5k. He was running 8.2 trapping 84.

Go easy on the launch and keep street tires and watch the wheel hop, if it starts wheel hoping let off. Honestly you should be fine but there is no guarantee. I mean you could blow your engine driving to work tomorrow; sometimes stuff just happens.

Just launch it easy, roll out on the clutch...you can still leave at high rpm if you can come off the clutch just right. Thats actually better than leaving soft and bogging it..that puts a big stress on it with the back and forth jolt.

The only thing to do with a 10 bolt is drive it however you want until it breaks. Then you can upgrade to a 12bolt, dana 60, or best of all a 9". FWIW I have broken a 10bolt in a 2.2 S10 chirping 2nd gear.

Here's the Cliff Notes answer: There's no way to know.
The 10 bolt is obviously a weak point in these cars. The more stress you put on that weak point, the more likely you are to break it at any given time.
If you can afford to replace it or have another car to drive, then go have fun at the track and hope you get lucky. If (and when) the inevitable happens, at least you can afford to fix it.

I have broken 12 bolt diffs due to wheel hop. You need to leave the line w/o inducing hop. "Safe" is an experimentation. How much you leave and how much throttle you roll in depends on the car, driver, and track condiditions.

with a M6 its not a matter of will it its When will it. IF you are nice to it and dont have any hop it can last a while if you are lucky. I am making 420rwhp was very lucky with my 10 bolt. that being said I could never "hook" as I was always afraid I would pop the glass 10 bolt
