The only recall i see, is a 16 yr old in a Ls1... Becarefull, this things Demand respect.
A stall is probably as far as you want to take it for now.
For Xmas, i would wish for some LT headers and Y pipe to go with it. Basic things that will improve airflow very cheap you can do now.
Lid, bellow, Filter, cut out.
Everything else will get pricey...

I'm curious on what you mean by it breaking all the time? I've heard of FAR more problems with people replacing the tranny or clutch in the T56. The 4l60e in stock form isn't overly impressive, but it gets the job done. Mine is pushing 80,000 miles now and hasn't had a single hiccup. *knocks on wood*

Well yeah, look at the mods you have. Make some more power and see what happends.
It's known for them to give out in stock form after a few horses are added. Trust me I know! I blew mine couple of days after dyno.
Now Rebuilding and Throwing in a 3800Vig stall FTW

i was hoping that when they put the shift kit in that they rebuilt the tranny. the guy i bought it from said hes pretty sure they did but wasn't sure. and i saved all my money for it last summer and so taking the chance of wrecking or hurting my self is not what i want to do. and is Y-pipe better then X- pipe??

Also, have you ever done a tranny fluid swap or flush? Which would you recommend if you had?
I've heard the 4l60e is good enough to handle stock horsepower, 350, all the way up to 400. Anything past 400HP and it'll be too much for the stock tranny to handle. Is that about right?

X pipe gives a lot more power and a lot more flow, it's the best pipes you can get.

Thats not really a big stall, a waste really IMO as a Mod.
Of course i had fluid flush and every precaution i knew of... 118xxx when it began slipping.
What was the mileage and mods on your engine/tranny when it blew?

160k on my stock 4l60e, no clue on power but i'm beyond stock power, Fast92mm intake, nick williams throttle body, cold air, flowmaster and full tune.
it shifts flawelessly whether its hot or cold even at 6300rpm (which is see's atleast once a day).
heat is what kills these things, good fluid goes a LONG way, i prefer valvoline Maxlife ATF because it handles the heat well.

Well, If I were you keeping it cheaper. I would do LT headers, 3" Y-pipe, LID, Ported TB, Mail order tune to start. Start with basics then if you wanna do gears, suspension, etc later at least you got a cheap yet pretty decent amount of upgrades.
