Which mod first? I am about to have a set of 4:10 gears installed in my M6 Z28. I have learned that is supposed to be one hell of of a mod, but I am also thinking that maybe I should do headers first, or some suspension stuff like LCR, Panhard Bar and SFC first. I don't go to the track that often, just want my ride to continue smoking gts on the street, handle well sound great, and accelerate like heroin through Courtney Love's Arm. I am able to do some mods every couple of months now. like gears now, and maybe some exhaust stuff in June, maybe suspension in September.....What are your thoughts???

I wouldn't waste time with gears in a stock rear end. If you start racing at the track, the chances that you break that rear will start rising. If you're not going internal mods yet (cam, etc.), I would do some LCA's and the rest of your exhaust work. Just my $0.02... 
I'm with Wease until the stock rear is replaced with say a 12 bolt I would do a zaino on the front bumper and a billet grill maybe and a loudmouth etc until you get into cam and heads etc etc to worry about gears

I disagree, gears will wake your car up like you wouldn't believe. Whatever use you have for first gear will completely diminish and first gear will go so quick. Get the gears and hopefully the drag radials. You'll probably take just about anything within reason from a dig with that setup.
I've heard of guys going with 4.10's and still breaking their rears just punching it hard on the streets or highway.
I'd go with a lid, headers, oryp, and cutout. Look in the parts for sale section to get some good steals!

IF you are interested mostly in the street setup get midlengths and loudmouth. Or even some mids with a dual setup. Awesome sound and 20 to 40 horse gains if you get both with random cats. Nittos for a better launch at the light. Long Tubes will cause you to loose low end and you may get disappointed on the street with that. If the 4:10s have you going thru 1st gear faster than maybe that is a good idea. Billet grille, clear corners and new fogs would look awesome and smoked headlights. Check mine

lid, cutout, free mods.. all for less than $200. If you wanna do gears, id suggest 3.73's. 4.11 would be hard to hook up especially on the street..also look into a hpp.. modest power boost as well as correct your speedo w/ the new ratio.

Lid definately. Maybe a FTRA or SSRA. SFC's I hear are a great mod (I don't have them). Open up the exhaust. Don't bother with mid-length anything. Go for long tubes. Off-road Y if you can swing it.

I already have the TSP lid, slp Loudmouth, all the free mods, skip shift, etc... I don't plan on racing on the track, just playing on the street a little bit. I plan to crack open the engine once I get past the factory warrenty and add patriot stage two heads heads, a 227 or 231 cam, timing chain, however I want to open up the exhaust with headers and maybe a true dual exhaust, and defenitly suspension all the way around with a a 160 thermostat very, very soon. I also want to do a moser 12 bolt but that is down the road a bit with the heads and cam. I've been to the track once and turned high 13's at an altitude of 6500 feet on a mediocre track on street tires, I think that could be low 13's iat sea level and on good tires like nittos or et streets. The main focus is on a fun, fast street car that is a ball to drive, is used as a daily driver, and can be taken out to the track every once in a while for some light spirited fun. I was thinking of building a strip only car out of a used z once I get past the grad degree that takes up so much money and time right now. I am trying to have as muh fun as I can at the mo9ment with what I have. The ride I have now turns some heads and gets a lot of compliments because I am **** about cleaning and zaino. If it's your daily driver then don't get 4.10's. They are way too much for the street. Since the track isn't going to be your second home, and you'll be on the streets mostly I'd grab some 18s for your ride. Mine as well have her looking nice.
